Re: How to start with health Issues

Hi Stephen good to talk to you.

Firstly it's good that you have come to the realisation that you need ot help yourself, you should be proud of that and that's the first step to a better you.

Secondly, you don't need to feel intimidated about other people in the gym. Remember that some of them are going to be people trying to get over physical hangups, or are maintaining the results they have gotten trying to get over physical hangups, so they might feel or have felt in the past a little uneasy being around other people, but the vast majority of people will either talk to you or just let you get on with things, they are not likely to judge you, so you shouldn't really have an issue with any of them, but I can appreciate that that does happen and it's okay to feel uneasy around strangers, in a fairly large but ultimately still confined space and there's no shame in it, or any need to feel inadequate, or pathetic, or stupid, or wussy, or anything like that, if you have ever felt any of those emotions before, because for some people those feelings of unease in that environment will be or have been all too real and accepting you have little to worry about from the people in there, can be a small but beneficial part of your process to a better you and you are an important person in the context of your life and you deserve to be in there doing what you wish as much as anyone else, if you're using the facilities responsibily and you are not acting innappropriately on multiple occasions to other people :).

Obviously you have certain health concerns which it is not my right to pry into, but yours to disclose if you want to and so it is a case of working around those as best as you can, but that also depends of course on the exact nature of you goal(s).<*

Re: Morning Detox Trick

Frankly I wouldn't waste your time. Things like cl1ckbank health products in my belief are products designed to make someone money, with more emphasis on the money side of things than any solid health benefits. If you need advice on ways to improve your health just ask on here, as that's what we're ...

If a link tells your computer that it's a decepticve site, then it wouldn't be down to a spam risk, but your firewall or virus checker warning you of a possible but not definite risk of your computer veing infected with a virus or some kind of malware or spyware. Spam is only spam in my mind, if int...

Re: Good ole tennis elbow!? :(

Hi Cynthia, good to talk to you. From what I can make out having seen images of that brace, it is supposed to be worn around 1" above the elbow, so if you're doing that then you're using it correctly. Tennis Elbow is a type of bursitis and bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa which are little fl...

You are aware that person posted over 2 years ago and is unlikely to respond as they only posted once.

Re: Progress Reversed!

Hi Salboo, good to speak to you.

You say you spoke to people from the medical proffession and you say blood tests came back clear, however would it be intrusive of me if I asked whether around 6 months ago you started taking medication of any kind, as some medications can be linked to weight gain.

Is it possible there may be some sort of medical concern that has affected your hormone levels perhaps, something that maybe blood tests wouldn't necessarily pick up? It may also be possible the test results you got back were somehow misreported, I:E: they were someone elses, but you got given them as an administrative error, or indeed the blood tests may have been carried out in an insufficient manner.

These outcomes are extremely slim in terms of being possible, but they are existent possibilities and therefore it would be mindful to at least not dismiss them as being totally impossible.

You may also be overdoing it on the exercise. If you workout 5 times a week then fine, but if you do as you suggested and train daily, by sandwiching 5 sessions of cardio and 5 sessions of weights into a 7 day period, you could be causing yourself issues like overtraining / going stale.

This can manifest itself as lethargy, loss of weight lifting ability, potentially suppressed immune system due to inadequate recovery each week and also as 1lb of added muscle mass burns around an etra 45-50 calories per day and is there good for metabolic health, burning it off through excessive exercise could create the opposite effect, as reduced calorie burning ability in the body could cause fat gain.

The things I have highlighted may be of no connection to what you have exeperienced but one or more of them might be, but anything other things you can think of or remember, please feel free to discuss them if you wish :).<*

Re: Keep Cutting or Start Bulking

Hi Avelli, good to speak to you. personally military press is going to utilise a bit too much chest, so I'd switch it to something else like cleans as an example to work the upper back. Also Leg Press could be a bit much with squats for legs as it is a good all rounder, whereas squats mostly target ...

Re: Weight loss on restricted gall bladder diet

Sometimes less can be more. You may have walked too much and your body might have wanted to hang onto fat depending on your food intake.

You may hev lost weight but it might be that it was very slight, but even if you lose 1/4 lb a week, then it's getting you somewhere. Consistency of results is key, not necessarily timeframe or a specific amount :).

What makes you think you lost around the waist?<*

Re: Training with dumbbells

Plateau means when the muscles hit the buffers and can't get beyond a certain point, when the person has the physical potential to get stronger than that.

Hopefully that explains things.

Re: Training with dumbbells

Well they might if you were talking about 2 or 3 pairs, but with free weight the discs can just be piled up in small heaps in the corner of a room and the bars can be tucked under a bed, as I know from personal experience and you'd get more flexibility in how much weight you can use, otherwise you'l...

Re: Training with dumbbells

Hi geek good to speak to you. Instead of dumbbells could you be in a position to get yourself a free weight setup, so you could then have a long bar a couple of small ones, some free weight and perhaps a workout bench? In the long-run this approach becomes more flexible, gives you easier storage of ...

Re: Excercises for the back

Hi El Barto, good to speak to you. Exercises that can work the lower back include deadlifts, hyperextensions and good mornings. You would need to experiment first with an unweighted range of motion, to see if you could actually complete reps free of pain and / or discomfort. Then were that possible,...

Re: Weight loss on restricted gall bladder diet

If someones calories are a bit low the body can hnold onto fat as it goes into what is called a starvation mode, so if you're undereating a bit then it may account for why your weight loss is not quite as prolific as you would wish. Also you are exercising so having added calories is also good to pr...
