I don't have a gym membership anymore (a casualty of the economy :( ) but I do have a weight system at home. It is a two station workout system with bench press, leg press, leg curl. A pulley system with adjustable weights. I just don't have any real "program". I usually do two sets of 15 ...

running shoe test

I'm a little late getting to this post, but I wanted to give a bit of advice I have learned from over 20 years of running. First...there are alot of ways a runners foot hits the ground. Runners come in all shapes, sizes and running forms. I tend to be a mid foot striker with foot basically coming do...

Thanks for the encouraging words and helpful advice. I am going to try to remember that the scale is only a small part of what measures weight loss, and not let it be the "end all" of what determines success. I appreciate all the positive input! I know I have alot of work to do, but I am v...

I generally weigh myself once a week, on Friday mornings after workout and before I eat anything. It is kind of like a goal I set for myself on Monday, to work hard during the week, then weigh in on Friday a.m. and hope for a good result.
I tend to build muscle very easily, faster than I lose fat.

I did do more weights this week in the hopes it would boost metabolism. Maybe that had something to do with it?

weight scale blues :-(

I never realized how much the weight scale can affect entire mood for the day! I worked hard this week, watched what I ate, worked out with strength work as well as cardio, I even doubled on yesterday and ran in the morning then again in the evening and did some upper body weights. So, this morning ...

eating before workout?

thanks so much for the tips and advice! I will try the protein shake and banana. It sounds pretty quick and easy and not hard to digest. I really need a good energy boost in the a.m. to improve endurance. :D

eating before workout?

daily run or workout time is between 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. I never eat before workout, which might be as much as 4 to 7 miles during the week and a long run of 8 to 10 miles on the weekend. Sometimes I will have a "goo" gel about 15 to 20 minutes before I run, and I always drink a bottl...

tips for getting over the "wall" with weight loss

I am really struggling with organizing and staying committed to a eating plan. I am a runner, averaging about 15 to 20 miles per week, but have reached a point where it's a fight to lose more than a pound a week (I need to lose about 10 to 15 lbs to reach "race weight") typical day of food...
