I avoid Halloween at all costs! I have a phobia about going to the door to greet people *kids hopefully* and not know who they are due to their faces being covered by masks etc. I was very much a tom boy as a kid with 3 brothers, so not sure where my fear came from. There are two instances I CAN remember that *may* have resulted in this irrational fear - 1) My Mom came down the stairs with a bright orange wig and scared the living daylights out of me! 2) My neighbors father shooed me away because he didn't like my brothers - this guy was a total ass, but it still made me feel bad. I went home and cried the rest of the night and never did go trick or treating that year. Anyway I literally refuse to go to the door to greet kids on Halloween night. Of course this response is a bit delayed as we were in Aruba on Halloween - now you know why we go that time of year

Other than that, we use to make paper machete animal heads. I remember tearing up tons of strips of newspaper, mixing flour and water, making a base with a paper bag and stuffing, then slathering on the flour coated strips. I was a horse one year - they came out GREAT and it was alot of fun! We lived on the *avenues* so there were tons of kids, and tons of houses, we raked in enough candy to last a lifetime - and they were assorted by type - good and not so good!
So I had lots of fun, but somewhere along the line........?
