Good job on the insanity. It sounds very tough. Sorry to hear about the sprain. Could you maybe when your doing a chinup or pullup have a chair there to support some of your body weight but still be lifting yourself up? I don't know how common it is to use a chair but that's what they recommend for p90x for people who can't lift their full body weight.

I've used a stool before to help me lift my weight and it works okay. Better than without a stool and not being able to lift at all. :)

Using some kind of step, stool or other stuch thing is fine for Chin-ups, if you have a reach issue due to height, but that's all.

You shouldn't really be using the object for anything else, except getting down again in my opinion.

8/25 (Wednesday): Nokie...You look AWESOME! I'm very proud of you. About my scores...Thanks! Haven't done the test again due to my sprain. But I'm still pretty active. Just VERY Busy. Lots of changes around me & I haven't been able to post. However, I've been working out & eating pretty good. Not as planned, but it's going. I'm 123lbs (lost 2 pounds :(), but I think it's because I'm gaining a bit more muscle. My arms are a little less flabby :D. OMG!!!! The Nivea cream is working. Honestly (I swear), my stretch marks have reduced a little. I'm soooo happy about it. My wrist is getting better. It still hurts when I lift, twist or bend, but I'm doing a little therapy on my own. Trying to get better as fast as I can . So far, my meals look like this (today):

7:00 Workout lower & Cardio: 3 sets of 12: squats, forward lunges, plie squats & backward lunges & 20 minute run + (5 min. warmup & 5 min cool down)
8:05 Whey protein shake w/ water & 1/2 banana
10:00 2 Eggwhites w/ 1 slice of ham, 1/2 cheese, 10 baby spinach & 1 whole wheat toast w/ 1/2 cup d. pepsi w/ lemon & 1 bottle of water
12:30 3oz grilled salmon & big side salad (lettuce, spinach, broccoli (warm) tomatoes & shredded swiss cheese & little vinegar & a dab of Mayo. YUMM! The hot salmon & broccoli melts the cheese...YUMM! & bottle of Iced water w/ lemon.
1:10 walked 1 mile (fast speed) & drank 1 bottle of water
3:30 garpes w/ cheddar cheese (2%) & 1 bottle of water
5:30 4 oz Grilled chicken stir fry (olive oil) w/ veggies (broccoli, asparagus, green beans, tomatoes & spinach) & 1 bottle of water

Thursday 8/26: This morning was really nice. I did upper (without weights) & core. It's very hard to do planks without hands. I'm using my entire arm. Not the same... But, you have to work with what you can/got. Story of my life... (inside joke w/ my girl friends). Cardio was good. I did circuit training (modified-no push ups): 60 sec jumps, 20 squats, 60 sec. jumping jacks, 20 superman, 60 sec. high knees, 20 lunges, 3 min. jog, 20 Kick butt, 60 sec. "speed skating", 20 lunges w/ torso twist & repeat again. In the afternoon, instead of my usual walk, I did a 10 min. Hiit jumping. It felt good. My friend did it with me & she only did 2 min. (first time she does hiit), so I think she did pretty good. So far, she has lost 33lbs :D. After dinner, went to my kids soccer game. I "helped" them warm up by sprinting with them. After the game was over, my hubby decided to play with them & I did 10 min. hiit running while watching them play. It was funny! They couldn't concentrate . They kept watching what I was doing. I guess they thought I was crazy? Cause I was running super fast (in the same spot) for 30 sec, then 30 sec, slow, 30 sec run w/ high knees, 30 sec run w/ punches, 30 sec super fast, 30 sec. butt kicks, 30 sec sprint, 30 sec run w/ kick, 30 sec jog & 30 sec side to side & repeat again... They were laughing. Hey, I like to improvise & the attention  . My meals were like this:
7:20 upper workout, core & circuit training- upper & core kinda sucked! & bottle of water
8:15 protein shake w/ water & small banana
10:25 Tuna fish sandwich w/ 2 whole wheat toast, spinach & 1 slice tomato & 1/2 cup d. pepsi w/ lemon & 1 bottle of water
12:35 Grilled chicken salad w/ 1 bottle of water w/ lemon & 1 small apple
1:20 10 min. hiit jumping & 1 bottle of water
3:30 watermelon...YUMM! & water
6:00 1 cup of whole wheat baked ziti (used low fat mozarella & ricotta & my sauce was homemade) & big salad & 1 bottle of water
7:00 soccer game & after game: Hiit running & 1 bottle of water
9:45 Wii hula hoop- Kids are mad they can beat my score
10:20 1/2 protein shake w/ water & lots of ice
Tomorrow: day off. Have Dr.'s appointment. But I will walk (2 miles- round trip) & maybe walk at the park in the evening (just to relax).

The point with Planks is though, you're not meant to use your hands, you're supposed to use the Forearms or stability. People who do things like Side Planks resting on the Palms, are increasing the risk of injury to things like the Tendons, Carpel Tunnel and possibly Ulna, Radius and Scaphoid Issues.

So if you've ever done Planks or Side Planks, by propping yourself up on your Palms, you've been doing them wrong :).

planks are simple, but effective. :D Enjoy!

Friday 8/27: Thanks Boss & fitoverforty! I used to do the planks both ways . Won't do anymore. You see, I'm still learning :D. Will do them the right way. Thanks for the videos. Today, no workouts. Went to my appts, but I walked. In the evening, I walked about 3 miles. I needed some time to relax & meditate. Tomorrow: lower, abs & cardio. Planning to ride my son's bike. Let's see how It goes...

Friday (9/10): Hi everyone! I know, I've been a little absent. I've been very busy. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. School started for everyone in my house, including me. Better late than never... Wanted to try something new. Maybe a career change? So far, so good. But then again, It's been 4 days . My first day was nerve-wracking (dejavu). I was back in college. But this time, I was as old as my professor (I think). However, my classmates didn't notice (or they were being nice). Thankfully, I had accounting experience. Answered a few questions on the first day & with that I made a few friends (maybe a few enemies too?). No problems so far & lots of friends. Loving college! Embarrassing moment: Had 1/2 day today & guess who showed up to "pick me up"? My oldest son. UGH! Who asked him? I was having a very interesting conversation with my classmates & he shows up & presents himself as my son.  (look in evryone's face). Guess who is going to be bombarded with questions on Monday??? Me! Anyways... I've been busy also with my workouts. Confession: This new journey SUCKS! Please accept my apologies if I offend ANYBODY, but I need to be brutally honest. timed meals, calorie counting, carb reduction, No mochas & schedules SUCKS! I'm having a really HARD time. Maybe this isn't for me. I realized I'm weak & I give into temptation easily. No will power! :( UGH! Hate it! I've lost lbs & inches, but I feel sad. Maybe I'm not motivated enough. How or where do you find motivation? Will continue, but I guess I need to make some adjustments because I want this to work & not feel crappy about it. It isn't fun...Like it used to be. What should I do...

Be strong and keep believing in yourself.

You're worth so much to this world and you owe yourself the time and effort needed to prove that. You need to have a good life and to make that happen, you must be dedicated to yourself and you must cotinue to recognise your own worth and value.

Other people make situations like yours work and you can too :).

You're an absolutely wonderful person and you have been through tougher situations than this and you know better than many, the value of good health and the threats faced to it.

So just keep your chin up, head high, keep smiling and don't let yourself forget who you are and what it means and stands for. You have the chance to continue to grow, physically, emotionally and mentally. Something you may have thought at one time, might be an uncertainty, but you can have a superb future ahead, if you let yourself have it and let yourself be the all round person you undoubtedly deserve to be.

Good luck and whatever you do, keep on being you, because it's wonderfully beautiful :).

(9/15): Boss...Thank you for your kind words and motivation. I decided to not push myself so hard. Since I started this journey last year, I have seen physical changes (which I love), but most importantly for me, the health ones. I'm very proud of what I've accomplished so far. However, I would like to see my other goals be completed faster. Honestly, I know I CAN do it, I just don't want to give some things up. These things are making this new journey much harder & slower, but I'm trying to find another way, for me, to do it without so much sacrifice. I want this lifestyle change to be forever. I want to be able to look good & feel good without feeling guilty for having a mocha, or feeling like a cheater when I want to (and DO have) a chocolate bar. So far, I have maintain my weight. But I've done it by keeping my "fun" workouts & having a regular diet. Now, I've lost a couple more, but I feel grumpy, crappy & sad. DON'T want to feel this way. So, for now, no more meal timing & no more strictness. I know it's necessary if I want to see more muscle definition, but I want to feel good every day & I want to enjoy food (life's too short) & I want to LOVE working out like I used to. My highest respect for those who do it every day. IT'S HARD...(my opinion). I'm going back to my "old ways" & take it day by day. Maybe later on, I'll give it a try :D. Today was VERY exhausting. Did cardio in the morning & in the evening, total body workout video (2lbs weights-wrist is much better) & 20 min. Hiit running afterwards. Tomorrow, cardio. Planning to ride the bike in the morning, walk in the afternoon & run 2 miles at night . Rephrasing: WILL try to run 2 miles at night . By the way, doing to insanity test on friday. Very nervous. I hope I see improvements. I think I can do better than last time. Wish me luck...

Just try to do the best you think you can for YOU. This isn't about emulating others, or doing things you dislike, to get the end results, when there's other ways to do it that are hard, but more enjoyable and therefore more rewarding.

You're doing brilliantly and I do remain proud of you. You should be proud of you too. Since your darker days, you come so far and done it with much beauty, grace and elegance. A true Lady through and through.

I'm sending you a BIG PAT ON THE BACK and my very best wishes. Chin up, keep smiling and keep pushing. You're amazing misses.

:) :) :) :)

Aww! Thanks Boss! Love the Pat in the back. I earned it today. Worked VERY hard. This morning, I DID :D :D a 2 mile run! Very HAPPY. Had 2 eggwhites, 1 ham, 1 slice 2% cheese, spinach scarmbled. Also 1 whole wheat toast & 10 big grapes w/ 1/2 cup diet pepsi w/ lemon & 1 bottle of water. Had 10 large grapes w/ cheese & 1 bottle of water for snack. In the afternoon, I walked 1 mile (intervals) after eating 1 cup of homemade whole wheat pasta w/ chicken on tomatoes/basil/garlic/olive oil sauce & a side salad w/ lettuce, spinach, cucumbers & black olives & little light italian & 1 bottle of water w/ lemon. YUMM! :D. For my next snack, I had a handfull of mixed nuts w/ 1oz cheddar cheese & 1 bottle of water. Got home & decided to do (while cooking) 3 sets of 25 each w/ 5lbs weights (didn't bother my wrist): deadlifts, pull back rows, military press, chest flys & squats. Immediately after: 100 jumps, 100 skater slide, 100 jumping jacks & 3 minute walk. Had my dinner: 1/2 cup brown rice, 3oz grilled steak w/ broccoli & small chef salad w/ 1/2 slice avocado, lettuce, spinach, black olives, swiss cheese & little l.italian & 1 bottle of water. 1 hour later, my son was about to take my bike out, when it started pouring & thuder & lighting scared us all. OMG! SCARY! So, stayed inside & ran 2 more miles :D. Feeling tired, but good. Good music, good food, no schedule & good workout. Looking forward to tomorrows workout: bicep, triceps, lunges & calves. Guess what? Doing my favorite...Belly dancing video. YIPPEE!
