Boss..No offense taken. I just like the beat & the dance (as you know, I'm married ). Thank you as always for your great vibe.
Les... Thank you for your support. I always enjoy your sense of humor. I read your journal too. Love it!
Tuesday, really bad weather. It was raining again. But today, it was windy & cold. Where is spring? It was so ugly outside, I didn't feel like working out. Did! It only took a glance at my belly & I was pumping iron . Did 3 sets of 20 (3 speeds) skull crushers & dips. I also worked on my hammstrings (3 sets of 20) & inner & outer thighs. As bonus: my calves. It was a good workout. Finished with a 5 minute intense cardio (30 seconds of running, jumping jacks, high knees, jumping (both feet) side to side, front to back, twisting, etc.). Did my sweating :D. Had a nice breakfast: omelette w/ egg white, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, ham & 1/2 cheese & 1 slice whole wheat bread. Before dinner, i did 15 minutes of tae bo. Afterwards, I ate a big salad w/ lettuce, tomatoes, shrimps & 1/2 cup of brown rice. Sat down to watch the biggest looser with my family & my youngest son decided to do the stepper challenge. I remembered I have a stepper. Bought it 10 years ago & forgot I had it in my hubby's closet. Dusted off and you know what happened next. Yes, a big challenge. Can we do something without competing against each other? Not in my house . Immediately, they got the timer & let the game begin! Ok, I confess, It was a great workout. Couldn't believe how fast & light on his feet was my baby. I guess loosing the extra weight paid off. I was quick too. My hubby, poor guy...need to get him vitamins . My oldest, I just found out he has 2 left feet. He was tripping all over himself . Final score: Baby: 430 steps in 5 minutes. Hubby: 120 steps, oldest: 156 steps (fell twice ), Me: 415 steps (not bad). Did we laugh? Duh! Just watching my oldest...priceless . We also tried the walking plank. Disaster! They did fine. Me, Ugh! Anyways, it was fun. Problem: Drinking protein shake after a workout is making me sick. Can I drink just water or am I missing something if I don't drink the protein? I think is the protein powder. I was using the Whey & changed it. Will buy the whey this weekend, but meanwhile, what should I do? Please help! Tomorrow: don't know. Ran out of ideas. Waiting for my lightbulb to go on...

Chances are if you've changed the powder it's the powder.

I would reckon what's making you sick is one of the following.

1. It's Soy powder. Perhaps you've developed an allergy or intolerance to it, you didn't have, or perhaps you haven't consumed Soy before, and discovered Soy powder gives you intolerance issues.

2. It's got more Casein, for example if you used to use Isolate and used Concentrate instead, which can create a bloating effect for some.

3. It's got some kind of Herb content in it and some part of the content is giving you issues.

4. Some other reason.

Other options after workouts could include things like Eggs, Ham, Chicken or Turkey sandwhich, Beans on Toast as alternatives, which are quick and easy to prepare.

Boss & Les...You guys are Awesome! I like those choices. Didn't know I could have a sandwich at night. Eggs at night? Not for me. I only eat egg whites because the yolk make me sick. After chemo, my stomach is pretty screwed up. That's why I drink diet coke when I eat egg whites. Also, main reason why I love mochas. Only drink besides diet coke & water that my stomach can handle. It tastes Yummy too . As for changing the protein...Big mistake! But I'm getting my whey protein on Saturday. I'm very excited because they have chocolate flavor (my favorite) :D. Ok, back to business , Today we had a Beautiful day. I didn't know what to do this morning, so I did what I do best...Walk! OMG! Didn't want to stop walking. I did for 2 hours. I just looove walking. It makes me feel free, good, etc. Had a nice breakfast afterwards: Bowl of Cream of wheat & a piece of cheddar cheese. My tummy was happy. For snack: 5 strawberries w/ 2 pieces of cheese & bottle of water & for lunch: 3oz of grilled chicken breast w/ mushrooms, peppers, green beans, tomatoes & side salad. Had a bottle of water. Walked about 1 mile again. In the evening, I cooked rice, beans & steak for my family & I had 1 cup of whole wheat pasta w/ 2 oz grilled steak & side salad. After dinner, my son asked me to play Guitar Hero (I really suck at it) & after 4 minutes I begged him to change the game. We played DDR (dance, dance revolution). OMG! haven't played that in a while. Have forgotten how much fun & how great of a workout it is. My youngest son hid the dance pad from me in his closet because he hated it. It was before I got him on the "diet" (I call it changes) :D. But now, that he is "skinny", he loves it . Kids! Who understand them? And they complain about us parents... The Nerves!. Anyways, we danced, jumped, hopped, moved, laughed. Lord have mercy! I think I found my new workout addiction . My son, he loved it too. Before, he used to do slow songs & do it twice (complaint included). Today, we did 4 songs (3 times each). We both looked like 2 suqeezed tomatoes...red & sweaty  We drank a bottle of water each. I guess you can call it a CARDIO day :D. Tomorrow: thinking about a full body workout w/ weights. Let's see how it works...

If you can't tolerate yolks, you can get the Lutein content in things like Corn, Spinach and Kale as examples, or in supplemental form.

Incidentally does this happen with any and all Yolks, as Omega 3 Eggs, (Chickens fed some Flax), are not the same as ordinary ones.

Ordinary ones have roughly 5g Fat in a normal sized Egg, (4.5g in Omega ones), of which the Fat is roughly 60% LDL Cholesterol, 40% HDL. Some say Dietary Cholesterol has little impact on Blood Cholesterol, some say it may have slightly higher effects, but if you're unsure, obviously you'd be wise to limit Yolks.

If you found it was normal Eggs giving the problem, then Omega 3 Eggs might be an alternative, because something in normal Eggs that gave you the problem, might be missing in those.

The only other thing might be Salmonella, but Salmonella is destroyed when cooked anyway, so unless you eat Raw eggs, any form Of Eggs, be it Omelettes, Poached, Scrambled, Fried or Boiled, shouldn't pose any risk, unless perhaps you like Boiled Eggs with a runny yolk, instead of a hard boiled yolk, because then there's a slight chance the viral content may still active, because it has not been eliminated in part or in whole.

I can't confirm this with any science, this is a supposition about hard boiled in relation to soft boiled, but it has a ring of logic to it, hence why I mentioned it.

Boss.. I've tried regular eggs, omega 3 eggs, organic eggs (whatever that means) & all yolks make me sick. I stopped eating egg for 2 years. Just started with the egg whites last year, but can eat it if I drink diet coke with it & mix it with something like ham, etc. I do eat spinach & corn. Same with the milk & sodas. It has to be skim & diet. I cant' eat banana, but I have a small piece mixed with something. If is too ripe, I have a problem. The puking won't stop. But I'm trying to get my digestive system used to some of the foods little by little :D. Like I say: One step at a time...Today, Thursday, the weather was better than yesterday. I strted the day doing (20 of each/ 3 speeds)Squats, chest press, forward lunges, bicep curls, calves, shoulders, inner & outer thigh, kick backs, dips, planks, rows & crunches. Did around 45 minutes, 5 minute warmup & 5 minutes stretch. Had a tuna fish sandwich w/ 1/2 cup strawberries & 1/2 bottle of water. Snack: 1/2 cup mixed nuts w/ 1 small box of raisins & 1/2 bottle of water. Walked 1 mile for lunch & ate: Oven roasted chicken breast sandwich w/ spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, olives...the works. Had to have 1/2 cup d. coke (took my medication) & it tastes & smell nasty (like plastic) UGH!. Then, walked 1 mile back. It was awesome! Loving the weather. For dinner, veggie lasagna w/ whole wheat pasta. Had a small piece w/ salad (stomach ache) & drank water. Decided to have a few M&M's to calm my stomach down (always works). One hour later, my son wanted to do HIIT jumping with me (his version ). He wanted to mix jumping with running. Different but good. We did 20 seconds of 6 different moves. As soon as we finished, he decided to do 3 planks (20 seconds) & immediately after he was done, he ran to the mirror, lifted his shirt & asked me if I could see the abs forming ...WHAT?? I said yes. I know, shouldn't have lied, but he felt so good, he said he wanted to do the intense workout & HIIT every night  . I like that. Extra workout for me...Alright!!! :D

Completely understand, just wasn't sure of the circumstances. At least you are still able to consume a lot of good foods, so it doesn't seem to be a massive headache eating properly.

Keep up the hard work, your efforts are superb and you can be proud of yourself.

Happy Easter! Friday couldn't post because in my house, we all sacrifice something we love to honor good Friday. So, there was no computer, no soccer games, no video games & no music (that's mine). It was hard because I'm always either singing or listening to music. Caught myself humming a few times . Anyways, it was a very humbling, sad, emotional day. Saturday, the day was going great until my hubby received a phone call from his mother. My day turned upside down. I went to the park & walked for 2 hours. Needed sometime to think. Having BIG problems with my hubby :( caused by my monster in law . But, will see what happens. Besides the walking, I did squats, kick backs, hamstrings & lunges...tightening the butt . Today, Sunday, did a lot of walking also. Things are getting a little tense in my home & needed to relieve some stress. Why are there people who make it a job to make other people's life miserable? Maybe they don't have a life? Oh well, I'm praying everything gets solved or goes away cause is stressing me out. When I'm stressed, I can't concentrated & don't feel like doing anything. Can't let this happen!!! I only have 2 months to go  . Ok, changing subject, tomorrow: Upper body workout, abs & cardio. Hoping to have a better day...

Monday, (3/5/2010). Started the day on the wrong foot. Didn't eat breakfast & went for a long walk. This time, I decided to include a very steep hill. Went up & down 10 times. By the time I finished, I was already beat. However, I kept on going. Like the energizer bunny. Felt very good. Did 2 hours 15 minutes. Got home & ate small ham & cheese sandwich w/ lettuce & tomatoes & cup of coffee w/ skim milk & 1 sweet & low. I also had 3 big strawberries & 1/2 bottle of water. For lunch, went for an hour walk. No hills but walked fast. Got a great suggestion from my youngest son: making a log of my walks with lenght, speed & time. Very smart of him :D. That way, I can check for improvements on speed or endurance. Starting my new experiment tomorrow . For lunch, I had a mocha latte w/ skim milk . Had to. Feeling very nauseous. For snack: 1/4 cup mix nuts w/ raisins & 1 bottle of water. Before dinner, my son wanted me to do a hip hop dance video with him. What do you think I did? Press play & started following instructions . It was cool. My son was very impressed. I think I still have it 8). I mean the moves  It lasted about 40 minutes. Good workout. Then, off to cook I went. I grilled fish fillets w/ mashed potatoes, asparragus & salad (avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, olives). Had to make rice for hubby & kids. 1 hour later, my kids wanted to go play tennis. I was running after that ball like crazy. I think I lost 1 pound in 10 minutes . My partner was my youngest son's best friend. Has never played, doesn't like to run & is very short for his age. Playing against my 2 kids (oldest is almost 6' & youngest is 5'). NOT fair!!. I played for around 45 minutes, but it felt like eternity. But it was a great workout for me. Bet tomorrow I'll be sore all over .

wow what a fantastic lifestyle - you've incorporated fitness into your family life so well and shown your kids how much fun it can be without making it feel like work. You should be so proud - you're handling a lot right now - and that is the key thing, you're HANDLING it. You're keeping going, eating right, keeping active and keeping a happy (immediate) family life. Well done to you. You're an inspiration to many! (me for one!)

Is that beachbody's hip hop abs? Must be. how do you like it? that guy also made insanity.

Its great that you stay active with your kids thats a great way to keep you and them fit. Like Noosk said you are an inspiration and a role model to many! I really would lke to be a rolemodel for my niece like you are to your family. My niece is a very adorable 9 year old but she has gained a little weight in the past year or two. I was thinner than her at her age.

you should keep up the tennis too! very fun sport and good exercise for everyone. Maybe its a good thing you had your partner that you did, more exercise for you! :)

Friday (4/9). Finally had a chance to sit down & write on my journal. CRAZY, STRESSFULL, MOODY WEEK! Anyways, still hanging in there. You guys don't know how much it means to me your great vibe. THANK YOU!! Noosk... [/b]Thank you for reading my journal & for your kind words. I'm trying to do the best I can to have a healthier/ better life, family while having fun. We can't be so uptight about anything in life. Right? Honestly, I struggle sometimes because I love food, specially white bread, chocolate & MOCHAS (YUMM!). I don't want to give them up, but I also don't want to over do it. I'm trying to find a happy medium . I believe that's the true secret of keeping the weight off. Obviously, I'm still learning... :D. musculargirl...also thank you for your great vibe. It makes me want to work harder each day. Even when I'm sore . As for the hip hop video is called DYAO (Dance your A@# off ) by Crunch gym. It really shows you great hip hop steps. When put all together, you can apply it to any song you like. My son & I learned it & we practiced with "BABY" Justin Bieber's song (my son's favorite) & "Carry out" by Justin Timberlake & it worked!! It also makes you sweat :D. Regarding tennis, my son loves it. I do too, but I'm still learning. Honestly, I just love to run around trying to hit the ball. It's a great workout because I suck at it & therefore, I'm running back & forth ALL the time . You know, BURNING the fat

Ok, let me tell you some new workouts I have done. Squats, planks, mountain climber, every exercise I could think off, but using the stepper. My entire body is sore. I also did different types of squats (sumo, side, ballerina "plie"-did I spell it right?) My hamstrings are HURTING. New videos: 30 days shred part 2 (OUCH!), Hardcore abs by Zusanna, Zumba- Reggaeton (LOVE IT!) I'm also using the resistance bands more now. Worked my entire body today (Friday) & cardio yesterday. Since it was nice, I went bike riding with the kids. Had a nice peaceful ride. Tomorrow: Hoping to walk 2 miles (depending on the weather). It has been very windy & my lungs can't take it. Also, HIIT running. Something new. Doing 15 seconds speed, 15 seconds slow, 15 seconds high knees, 15 seconds running kick backs-5 times. If I can handle it, will do it 10 X instead . I know, but I only have 2 1/2 months til due date   . Please either pray for me, cross your or wish me luck

Saturday (4/10), Walked 2 miles today w/ intervals. Also, every 3 minutes I did 10 lunges (OUCH!). Getting better at it. Drank 5 bottles of water (about 10 cups). Almost finished a roll of toilet paper by myself . In the afternoon, went walking again. VERY stressed out :(. Praying things go back to normal...This evening, I did the HIIT running & 200 jumping jacks. Feeling good about my workout. Ate very clean today. Only 1 slice of whole wheat bread. Tomorrow: working on my upper body & abs. Will be using 8lb weights. In the evening, walking before dinner & tae bo video. Need to get the bat wings tight :D.

Sunday, Got up early in the morning & worked on my upper body with weights (chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, back, etc.). I also worked on my abs with planks, mountain climbers, side planks, crunches & obliques. After the workout, I went to the park & walked about 1 1/2 hours. Had a really nice breakfast: veggie omellete w/ 1/2 slice of cheese, 3 big strawberries & 1 slice whole wheat toasted. In the afternoon, went food shopping (little walk) & home to wash clothes. For lunch: Wanted to eat a chicken taco, but didn't like the taco shell, ended up eating the insides of a taco-YUMM!. Before dinner, ended up doing the hula hoop wii fit challenge  (kid's idea) & 10 minute run. Cooked: Whole wheat pasta w/ turkey spam & veggies & a big salad (lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, avocado, olives). 1 hour after dinner, I went for a long walk. Got home & did the HIIT jumping. I was exhausted. Drank about 5 bottles of water so far. Have 1/2 with me right now. Have been very thirsty. Taking the day off tomorrow. Not by choice. Have a few appointments. However, I'll be walking to them (if weather allows me to). That's almost 4 miles. :D. Tuesday: Don't know yet. Something fun, will see...
