Have you tried viewing the exercise, as a way to work some of the emotions of your daily work, out of your system, so it helps you to keep the things seperate to some extent?

Maybe that is what is needed, just to keep a positive spin on the workouts, and also to remind yourself, you're doing this for you, because if you didn't workout, you might increase the risk of getting a problem in the future, that people you treat may have.

Worst thing would be to work in a place like that, then by the age of 70, be in one.

Not trying to sound a like a profit of doom, but of course all the health benefits can't be overlooked. Plus you ARE worth a lot of the time and effort you give to yourself.

You deserve to be healthy, and deserve to have good quality of life, so it might not seem easy to do, but for your own future, and your own health, you owe it to yourself, and deserve to put the time in.

I know you can manage to do this, you just need to be strong, and be patient and understanding with yourself.

Good luck :).

I have an aunt that works as an ER nurse. Her hours are grueling, her job is beyond stressful (she gets a lot of patients that don't really.. get better?) and with three kids, she's got a lot going on at home, too.

She spins. And she loves it! She NEVER goes home after work. She goes to the gym, changes, and works out for about 30-45 minutes, THEN showers and heads home. She told me that it keeps her from taking the energy of a hard day back into her home with her, and it is the biggest and best form of stress relief she has. She also looks fantastic and has a TON of energy!!

You can do it! It can be tough at first, no doubt, but stick it out and you *will* feel better!! The mental benefits of working out when you are in a stressful situation are often over looked, and they shouldn't be! Lifting heavy is the closest I get to meditation. Depending on what I'm doing, I will often times close my eyes, concentrate on my breathing, and just feel nasty things leaving me with every hard-done rep! By the time I'm finished I feel good about me, the toxic thoughts and stresses of my day have left my body and I'm *full* of energy!

You are in a tough situation, which makes it more important to take care of yourself. Do you find yourself turning to stimulants to keep moving during the day and through exercise? You need to be careful you aren’t exhausting your adrenals. How often are you exercising and how are you sleeping at night? You know, sometimes exercising in the evening is not a good thing, as it can interfere with your sleep. My main concern is why you are so exhausted in the mornings.

If you have the will… you have the way to make it happen!

Trust me girl… I work 2 jobs…
I work from 6AM to 9PM in between… I sometimes have to take time off and take the train to my parent’s house and take them to the doctor’s office... then run back work, then gym. BAM same thing over and over!

If you are talking about Money….Yes, money is important this time around with this kind of economy. But your health is ALSO important! By taking care of you, your healthy... you have the possibility to save tons of money from future medical bills due to bad health!!!!

I will pay more for better and healthy food than fast food (processed food)!
I rather take my time while I’m young to work out and educate my so when I’m old... I can be healthy and chase my grand kids around the park!
I want to live long enough and be healthy so I can go through ups and downs with my significant other.

You can do it too girl… It’s hard at first but once you get used to it, you will love it.

As Katie mentioned above, why you are so exhausted in the mornings? Sleep late? Wake up too early? Are you eating enough?

It definitely takes some time to get involved and really get into it. When I started it took me about a week I think. I also had some idiot waking me up at five am to get with her before SHE went to work, then we'd come home, she'd shower and I'd have to pack her lunch! I swore vengeance on her for that, but... sigh... I love what she did to me! (: Instead I'm out to break her records, and I'm competing against her in January to take her title (:

Give it time! If you are getting burnt out at work though, go for the PTO! Love that shit! Could be a good time to get a routine started too, since you can concentrate on you instead of on work! Good luck babe, and feel better!

I know just how you feel. I am deployed to the desert and work 12+ hard hours a day, 6 days a week. I usually have only 10 hours for myself a day. I came here needing to work out and struggled for the first 2 weeks to get the motivation to start. I have been here for 4 months so far and only a short time left. I have actually been working out 5-6 times a week and running about 4-5 times as well. Needless to say with eating well and working out i have gained about 30lbs (muscle) i can see my 6 pack coming back and really the only motivation was to suprise my wife when i get home in a month. She probably won't recognise me. i am alot darker then i was as well. i made a deal with my wife when i get home i will start working out with her. you just have to find something in yourself to keep you going. mine? my wife's look on her face when she sees me for the first time again and the look on my face when i see my surfer abs i used to have.

I lack motivation too! Think you just have to commit to it and find an exercise routine that you actually enjoy. After awhile, it will become second nature, and you'll feel bad if you don't do it.
