I'd say increase you're calories about around 25% more per day on workout days.

You could do this in one of 3 ways.

Firstly, add then to the first 3 meals of the day, when your metabolism is prime.

Secondly spread them out over the whole day except the last meal.

Thirdly, split them and have half before the workout and half afterwards.

Hi guys,

I am not sure you can help but I will ask anyway.

I have been diagnosed with IBA and a hiatus hernia. The IBS I am looking at diet and will amend accordingly but with the hiatus hernia the doctor has advised to avoid all form of weights work and abdominal exercise.

Is there anything I can do at all as just cardio does not work for me but if I cant lift weights at the gym what can I do!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. The catch 22 is I need to losed weight for the hiatus hernia to go down but I respond best to weights.

You can do body weight equivalents anyway, like squats, lunges, deadlifts, different press and raise movements for the shoulders, tricep dips using a chair or steps etc.

Just make sure that if you're feeling it with stuff like deadlifts, squats and lunges you stop doing those, as you obviously don't want to aggravate the hernia
