remember, 7 eggwhites is not 7 eggs. More like 3.

And I can *destroy* a 3 egg omelet stuffed with goodies and 2 pieces of toast. No sweat.

first thing in the morning that is a ton of food. I get pretty full off of a single serving of oatmeal. If i added all those eggwhites i think it would probably make me sick.

ease yourself into it and do what you can. It will get easier, but only if you give it your all! (:

5 eggwhites is only like 2.5 eggs... so you'd be having 3 1/2 eggs and some oatmeal. Nobodys going to force you to do anything that youre not comfortable with. However, it kind of seems like you have a mental block when it comes to this so you're set against it even though you really don't know how its going affect you. Thats just how it seems anyways... I could be way off.

Yes, there might be a slight issue perhaps eating the Eggwhites, not that I can think of, except for Salmonella, but that only happens sometimes when you eat them raw.

So why not just eat the Egg Whites? They're not realistically going to laden your Stomach down, or make you feel bloated or uncomfortable. Can't see why they would.

i have just never been a big eater when i first wake up. I honestly dont have any desire for food of any kind until ive been awake for at least 3.5 hours. I have been forcing myself to eat oatmeal and even that makes me feel sick from time to time, i know i should be eating better in the morning but im just not sure i can do it currently. Ill try easing myself into it but first thing in the morning has never been my time. Would it hurt to just eat a little more at my second meal instead....that sounds alot better to me as by that point the thought of food doesnt disgust me.

OHHHHHHHHHH!!! Ok I got ya! LOL! I thought you were saying that you simply couldn't eat that much at one time EVER. I was confused and didn't understand how that was that much food. Yeah totally understand now. If you can't eat that much at one time you could toss a little protein powder in with the oats and cook it up together... or just eat what you can and have a little more when you actually feel like eating. Its important to eat first thing in the morning but understandable if it takes a while to get your appetite.. I actually know quite a few people like this. I think if you kind of force yourself to eat a little oatmeal with maybe some protein powder you'll get used to eating first thing in the morning and your body should adapt and actually begin to crave food in the morning. Another option if you're really struggling with that oatmeal is to just have a protein shake with ff milk as soon as you wake up, then eat as soon as you feel like you can afterwards. This definitely shouldn't feel like torture, however i really do think you will get used to having food first thing in the morning and it will get easier.

Sorry i misunderstood you there. :)

Alright i seem to be getting back on track here, ive been to the gym 4 times and i think the times i went i can adhere to and go regularly. I am still struggling with eating anymore then the single serving of oatmeal in the morning. I added one scoop of protein in water to try to balance things out. I have been eating some jerky as you suggested with my snacks and am in the process of turning about 25 lbs of elk meat into jerky. The only thing that bothers me about jerky is the salt, isnt that a bit much salt to be consuming? My first trip to the scale said that i lost 14 lbs which i know is largely water weight. It is shocking how far i fell in the short amount of time i wasnt working out. The number of reps of the weight that i was doing with ease before is now quite difficult and the amount of time i can spend doing hiit is far less then half of what it was. I have been overweight for most of my life and really hope that i can keep myself on track this time and get myself down to a healthy weight. My problem is how easy it is to discourage me after a while of slow results i get to thinking that i am just meant to be overweight.

Hi Pat,

You are NOT meant to be overweight. Nobody is. Some people just have to work harder than others. Many people make comments to me about "how lucky I am to be skinny" however they don't realize that in order to be fit I have to work my ASS off day in and day out and have to really pay attention to my diet. I can't things like pastries, ice cream, cookies... or really any kind of junk or I would be overweight. The majority of my family is overweight and have serious health issues because of it. Seeing them not only shows me what wonderful genes i was blessed with, but also reminds me of why i workout everyday and why I make it a priority to watch my diet. The reason i'm telling you this Pat is because I want you to know that i totally understand what its like to feel like you have everything against you when it comes to losing weight. However, keep in mind that being fit and healthy isn't just about the way you look... its about the way you feel, its about your self esteem, and its about preventing diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and all the other ailments that come about when people don't take care of themselves. I know that it can be SO DISCOURAGING when you feel like youre working so hard to make progress and it seems like its taking forever to see results. I also know how frustrating it can be to work so hard, then cut back for a while and feel like you've lost so much in just the short time that you cut back. Sometimes it really does feel like youre paddling upstream against the wind.

Sometimes the journey to weight loss really is two steps forward and one step back. However as long as youre putting more steps forward than you are back you are still making progress. When you do get discouraged or have questions, we'll be here to cheer you on and keep you pushing forward. When you have success we'll be here to pat you on the back and when you slack off I'll personally be here to tell you to get your butt back in gear. At 14 pounds down (even if some is water weight) you really are doing awesome!

Elk Jerky... I'm so jealous right now! Our elk season starts in the next couple weeks and I REALLY hope my fiance gets one! Are you making the jerky yourself or having it made? We make ours on the dehydrator and it turns out really good. If you make it yourself you can decide how much salt you want in it. Obviously you will need some salt but if you're making it yourself you could atleast put less in than store bought varieties. Salt isnt the best for you, however if the rest of your diet is lower in salt then you should be fine. However if you're eating the jerky and loading all of your other dishes up with salt then yes, you would be consuming too much salt.

You're doing really great. Stick with it and you will meet your goals. As I said before, we'll be here for you every step of the way.

Cassie

PS: GREAT JOB on the oatmeal. If all you can do is a serving of oatmeal with some protein powder in the morning then that is just fine. Just eat again when you can.

Your elk season comes before deer season? Do you hunt with a bow or rifle? Our elk season comes after deer season. Fiance didn't get a buck so i'm REALLY hoping for an elk. We need the meat and wild meat is so much better and cheaper than beef! Good luck with your deer season! What kind of deer do you guys have down there anyways?.... assuming white tail?

nope all muleys, I have a weird elk hunt that is in an area where there arent alot of elk, that being said it starts early and goes for a long time. My deer hunt is actually in the same unit at the same time so this weekend i can shoot either a deer or an elk and i am pretty sure i will see at least one of the species and fill one tag.

Being able to shoot either species is a plus for sure! Is the elk tag bull only or can you shoot a cow? Muleys are better anyways... more meat. We have both white tail and muleys here (white tail at lower elevations and muleys up higher).

its a cow tag, i dont particularly care about antlers just the meat and leather so it makes little difference to me. We do have some white tails but not like the whitetails you guys have we have what they call coues (sp?) white tail and they are tiny, like the size of a german shepherd.

What do you do with the leather? I've never heard of the white tails you have there. Do you hunt them then if they are so small? Doesn't seem like it would make much sense. Good for you for hunting for the meat. I don't care for the horn hunters who are out just to kill a monster and don't even appreciate the meat. You'll have to let me know if you get something.
