As for the smoking, I agree with Les.I quit smoking dove into fitness & never looked back, never gained one pound from quitting either, which is most peoples fears.
If you aren't ready to quit, you just aren't ready. Trying to do something when you are not ready to make the change will often result in failure, which can cause you to give up altogether on changing your behavior patterns. Maybe try cutting back a bit and see how that sits (:
