Thats a good question, suppose I should see whom to find that out.The bone of the pelvis is higher on the left back side & the sciatic nerve is directly involved, along with the lower portion of the left side of the spine at times.Had it since 1998 approximately.Its screwing up squats.

By the way it was last instructor who recommends the bosu, as a tool to bring a level of challenge to a lift, it was in her arsenal of ascending an exercise.

so 1 side higher then the other, left to right?
if so then possible scoliosis issue, not a big one though it doesn't seem if it isn't really painful, or a tight ql on the left side (muscle runs up the side of the spine) as well as a loading problem through the right leg (glutes, ankle and hip mobility)
that trainer sucks! making an exercise sillier is not making it harder...increase wt, sets, reps, decrease rest for progression for the most part

Yes I can feel the bone jut out a bit at the top of the back left side & it seems a tad higher.In the first years I had this issue I was put on morphine, due to the pain while walking, however that was a VERY sedentary lifestyle i was living then & of course add drugs & it becomes MORE sedentary.Since I've been working out, I don't really have pain, unless I'm sitting for an extended time after leg workout.Very rarely there will be a twinge along spine when I bend over.However squats are crooked, left side comes down first.One of evaluators spotted an issue during a squat I did also.

Yes I actually find the left leg stronger during step ups.The right leg has been known to fail on me before the set is done, highly annoying.

No double workout today, was transfusion day.So I tacked the cardiovascular on to the workout.I had two persons ask me how much I charge.The one lady has been around as long as I have or longer in that gym.She says she loves the fact that I am the testosterone representative for females Gotta love that, seriously I hog that cage & everyone knows it.Though I do let people work in if need be.Thanks to swanso I ate a whole cup of oatmeal for breakfast & OMG no stomach growling mid workout & TONS of energy..YESSS.Hope everyone had a good day

The step up problem could be a few things.
One Leg planted further forwards or backwards on landing or before takeoff.
One Leg moves more quickly.
One Leg in a wider position relative to the centre of the core, so if you held a tape measure from the centre of the top of your head to the floor, your Legs should be equidistant from the measure either side. If one was further out and you started doing step-ups, it would have a different impetus on the Leg.

Wow, well to remedy the situation I dropped the height I step up.Unfortunately one of the trainers who is about 65 is afraid to have more than an 8 inch platform ? ahh..where did her passion go.Anyway they do have more but are stored elsewhere.I do need to this spine, leg issue, not sure what direction to seek help from ?

The thing to bear in mind though, is that any proffessional who might be able to correct your skeletal imbalance, is not necessarily the complete answer to your solution, because correction and prevention are two different things.
If your body was able to develop this problem, then it's more than likely it could happen again, so unless you find out how to resolve reoccurance issues, you'll need more than one "correction".
