Excessive protein consumption can however cause Kidney stones and also Gout, because the Nitrogen gets converted to Uric Acid crystals, that collect around the joints causing pain.

The Amino Acids do all sorts of things. The main ones for Anabolism are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine, but others effect results on things like mood hormones, (Dopamine, Hypocretin, Seratonin etc), sleep patterns, dilation of bloodvessels, cell growth and function etc.

I don't think you'd erally need the E that much, as it will be in the Salmon Oil, although it has been linked to muscle growth, in some regard to Tesosterone or Growth Hormone prodution, one of the two, as well as Zinc.

Protein is good at 1.2g per lb of bodyweight, but I wouldn't go above 1.5g per lb, as I think you don't need more than that.

I'm slightly confused by this.

meal 1
shake & 1/2 cup of oatmeal
carb 2 g
sugar 1 g

fat 3 g..1.4 saturated
protein 25 g

Oatmeal
carb 27 g
fat 2.5..sat .5 g
sugar 1 g
protein 5 g

You've got the same amount of Sugar in both cases, but infinitely more Carbs and more total Fat in the half a cup of Oatmeal, than the full portion.

Actually the top one is for the shake, bottom is the oatmeal

I'm going to run out of salmon oil soon, though I've some sunflower oil with omega's in it, would like to try & get all of my fats in the form of food, capsules are expensive. The vitamin E was for skin, didn't realize its in the salmon oil too.

My mistake I misread the situation. I thought you were eating oatmeal, then adding a bit to your shake as well. So slapped wrist for me

Is okay boss, didn't really label it well :) I had to adjust the oatmeal to 2/3 of cooked cup so I could knock the grams down to approximately 18 g, then add my dip or dressing carbs to that, plus the veggies. You said 30 g per meal total ?

Todays workout

HIIT elliptical Res lvl 8
20 mins 1 min/2 min ..maximal effort, faded towards the end, 1 min is a long time to haul butt.
10 mins treadmill 5 mph.

When I started off on my interval, there was NO flapping leg fat following me, victory is mine finally.

Due to a appointment across town & the fact its freaking freezing here, my weights day will shift to thurs, cardio friday & weights saturday..pls god don't let that chick who does leg stretches for 2 mins between sets, be there saturday ! I had an eye appointment, somewhere around 4 years ago I was sent to a specialist to find out I had dominant optic atrophy & color blindness. My mom has it & so do my sons. GOOD news is it hasn't digressed in this whole time, unfortunately there is a cataract on my left eye.I went because I can't read my text books, wasn't aware there was an issue with the left eye, until they covered the other one ! Then it was like huh, why is it all so blurry ? She says " its unusual for a person of 46 yo have a cataract BUT , you have one. " Felt like saying " if its unusual, then its normal for me :) My mom had two removed, yes they want me to have surgery..we know what that will mean..NO GYM ?? Sigh, won't be till the new year, thankfully.

Actually I boo booed on the disease I think its dominant optic neuropathy.Which means the nerve is dying slowly ? ( blindness not expected before death ) Aha yes. Thanks les, yeah my mom was okay a couple days later, though I will need to rely on my son to pick me up, so hopefully I don't walk into a bus or something :)

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snowwwwwwwwwwwww..because I've my food, book & no desire to leave the house again ;)

Todays workout

Chin ups
1 x 9/8/7/6
with
Lunges
1 x 10 x 70
1 x 4 x 90
1 x 5 x 90
1 x 7 x 70

Chest press on ball
1 x 10 x 22.5
1 x 5 x 30
1 x 6 x 30
1 x 7 x 22.5
with
Hip extensions ( hyper-extension )
1 x 8 x 30
2 x 8 x 40

Seated row
1 x 10 x 60
1 x 4 x 80
1 x 5 x 80
1 x 7 x 60

Shoulders on bosu
1 x 8 x 20
1 x 7 x 20
1 x 6 x 20

High to low WC with wide stance squat
3 x 8 x 10

Planks
3 x 1 minute
Reverse crunch
3 x 8
Superman on ball
3 x 8 x 10 second hold

I can see why it was a bit longer, I did three body parts in the wave load pattern. My shoulders suck, with this rotator cuff tear I will never be able to lift much, as it is 20 lbs seems to be an upper limit. The chest press could go up IF I a) wasn't afraid of making my injury worse OR b) I had a spotter. This rotator cuff may become an issue after all, though this needs to be weighed against, what will happen if I have surgery on it.I am concerned on the possible effects 20 years from now of NOT having it fixed also.Have a good day everyone :)

I should of known this was coming, leaving my cardio until afternoon, NOT a good thing.Though I'm so focused on reading this 535 pg book before Tuesday, I'm on page 236..I won't be doing cardio today, just came from my transfusion & have decided to stay home & read.By the time I redress, take the bus to the gym, workout & come back, run the ever present errands while out I LOSE easily 3 hours.I will be in the gym in the a.m for weights.I won't be able to squeeze any cardio in, unless its aerobic, maybe a longer warm up ? Glad I have a appointment with the doc prescribing these transfusions, my blood pressure is dropping again today it was 89/47 when I walked in..then dropped lower as I sat.Heart rate sitting at 79 ? Need to investigate why I have such a high heart rate, can't only be because I train my anerobic system both in weights & cardio, can it ? Going to try & take my HR is the morning, damn hard to find or I suck at it.Came across BMI formulation in the book so I did mine..18.5 almost underweight.Hope everyone is well :)

I'm dreading the snow! Guess I should get over it since I live in Wisconsin  The only reason I am looking forward to it is because it is soooo pretty. And I guess in a way I am looking forward to the shoveling - it forces me to get a little workout it whether I want to or not  I have a rather large driveway and nobody to help...and no snowblower.

Snow shoveling is a fabulous workout, always promotes a calm thought process for me also, love it :)

Les just brought up a point that reminded me WHY I started this way of eating & training. It WAS to see if a woman my age could lose the hideous tummy, arm fat etc, without having to use surgery. The results were, YES you can lose it all, though I found the restrictive eating more of a challenge than the workouts. Now I'm used to eating this way, though my clients will not be, so I need remember that, thanks les :) The skin on the abdominals is still changing, not quite given up hope on it yet ;) The gluts I'm trying to fill out with muscle, there is a change already, work in progress. Now since I am becoming a personal trainer, this information will be even more important. It is also why I'm trying new training methods etc, to have first hand knowledge.Time for the gym, YAY !
