So tonite I did the leg and back video and the ab ripper x video for p90x. Yeap... kicker. It's another week of working 7 am to 6pm. Long days. I wake up at 430 am take the long drive to work then get home at 7pm. It takes a lot to force myself to work out after being mentally drained. I sit all day so I have to. I take the stairs from the 5th floor and walk to parking g structure instead of taking the trolley. I hid the scale from myself to focus in on getting a routine so I quit getting disappointed at the number. I'm going to hold out until the end of the month. Like a quote I read, if u focus on results u will never change. If u focus on change you will get results. These videos are the Intensity I need. I have that big race in Ina month from now. Thank biggest one yet and I need to work whole body for it since it's also an obstacle. Once that passes. I will change it up and run as often as possible for half marathon in September.

New set of running earbuds! So this yr has had its ups and downs and the biggest struggle that I have been trying to over come is the fear of hurting foot again. That feeling I felt the night it happened hasn't left me. I have done these races this yr to force myself to keep fighting but the last two months have been really hard on me. I won't lie when I say I gave up. Sure I did workout videos and who would think p90x is a comfort zone but it was. All bc it wasn't running. I came so far last yr not just bc of weight loss that was the added bonus, but a love and passion for something that turned into a huge achievement and was taken from me bc of a fall. I know I came a long ways and further than doctor said I would but I don't have that stamina and fast pace I once had last summer. The constant health issues this yr added on really took a toll on me and spirit. With big race coming up in only a few weeks I won't lie, I debated on backing out of it. Here I bought this Groupon at the beginning of the yr to push myself not to mention paid for first half marathon in September as well and I thought of backing down? I laid on couch today and thought to myself looking at medals. Those were not handed to me this yr. I still earned them even though I wasn't were I wanted to be. I still fought for them. If I'm not willing to still put up a fight for health and happiness what the hell am I living for? Here I sit with this post in the gym parking lot, about to take a step with what feels like the bottom again. I need to tell myself it's not the bottom, it's far from it. Here I am walking with no medical boot, here I am beating the odds against me with that constant voice of the doctor saying I'd never surpass a mile again when I have. I just have to work harder this yr than last. I will get back to where I was and better. Whatever becomes of next month's race I will be proud of putting up a continued fight for me. I want to thank supporters and that reflection in the mirror who told me to keep going!

I walked out of the gym after I made the above post to facebook with pride.

I did a 1 incline and a 4.5 speed. A 5 min warm up and 3 min cool down in that 60 mins. I remember last yr record was 6 miles in that time frame. I have a goal to beat that this yr before it's over. It took work to control breathing and posture that I wanted to puke. body felt strong and after that 60 mins I walked for 15more. Training body back will take work but the mental strength I have now will get me through it. God, I have had a shit ton of ups and downs and always feel defeated once I start seeing success and it's hard, really hard to overcome it. I'd lie if I said it wasn't but there's so much to this life I have to experience and good health has been the one thing I dreamed of since I became over weight when I was in the 5th grade. A struggle I have faced basically whole life. I'm sick of it, I'm just tired and fed up with feeling defeated all time, but I know in heart I won't allow myself to stop fighting.

Christina i really admire you a lot i just want you to know that. You have such a great attitude and you've been through a lot! but you still have that great attitude and personality and spunk!! :)

Maybe you should go to a sports doctor that specializes in that kind of thing and get a second opinion on the foot too?? I admire and respect your decision to do the half! you have definitely proved your doctor wrong already! :tonguepoke: I don't think you should take your doctors advice as golden at all!! But i do respect his degree enough to maybe get a second opinion with a sports specialist if at all possible.. It might actually give you more peace of mind about running more??? I don't want to discourage you at all. Like i said you have already shown that doctor what you can do and i KNOW For a fact you LOVE running!! I know that...I can tell this worries you though and it might give you peace of mind. :sunshine:

mom broke her wrist actually out in michigan last spring. She went to a doctor who was recommended and they suggested no surgery on the wrist. we have some people with medical backgrounds in the family and they were like telling mom to come home and that she needed to have surgery on her wrist and that this was the normal practice for wrist injuries. mom did come home and did have surgery. The doctor here said she would have had pain in her wrist the rest of her life if she had followed that stupid doctor's advice and not got surgery!!! Doctors definitely dont' know everything..

Have you ever tried rollerblading/inline skating? It's a lot like running in certain ways. It might be a nice cross training for some running to do in the summer too?? FYI rollerblading really shapes up your legs too. your hamstrings especially and quads. on those beautiful park paths you have there and biking which i believe you already sometimes do. They actually have here half marathons and marathons you can rollerblade in. :sunshine:

I just want to say this too... I know how much this means to you and you enjoy running. And i do think you should get a second opinion and i know NOTHING about your injury at ALL! i think you should do the half if you want too and think you can!! BUT there are tons of other sports you can do too. I like running too and really enjoyed 5k last year and want to start up again BUT if i was told that i had an injury that would only get worse and possibly cause more pain due to keeping running. I probably would try to find other activities after fully getting second opinions and giving it all or at least do it not too much. I might even have an injury like that right now. only time will tell. I'm just being honest. I do want to support you and i totally think you should try to get a second opinion and not give up if at all possible because you really enjoy running. but you don't want be stupid either and cause permanent injury to yourself.

i didn't want to say that but i am your friend and i fully want to support you but at the same time be honest and that is how i feel. :) totally support you though in whatever you do!

I'm sending you a BIG HUG, Christina, because I am so damn proud of you for not giving up on yourself.

You're amazing and YES you should be proud of yourself because you've earned it, so keep kicking butt and don't stop believing in yourself, because I won't stop believing in you.

Well imagine that, I was in the hospital again. throat. Same type of infection I had last yr the day of warrior dash race. This time the Pin was more severe and after steroid shot I was crazy cold. Shaking non stop when I went to the pharmacy to get script. I broke down and cried waiting for it. I called mom called bf and just lost it. Also this past week 3 people I knew when I was middle school died. A teacher, one guy who was in grade from drugs and a 14 yr old who was grandmas neighbor and played with lil cousin back then was murdered. So much emotional, mental and physical strain lately has been taking such a toll. These pics I know are gross but if someone gets this infection it's in for to get put on a antibiotic right aeay. If u notice a sore throat take pictures right away to make sure this has not developed. It's due to weak immune system. I wish I knew how to improve it. Idk if seeing a nutritionist will help to improve food intake ect. However with the bills I'm about to have come in that's out of the question. I got so scared tonite. Terrified as to how body has been and I don't know what to do anymore.

The red is the right side of throat. U can see how bad it got before I got meds from the first and second picutre. Same goes for the left side that's white.

There things you can do to improve your immune system, aside from modifications ot your diet.

1. Take glutamine. It could also help you with your sleep as well, if you get too many nights where it takes 1-2 hours or more to nod off, versus 5-60 minutes.

2. Take zinc pills.

3. Take vit c, which could be done with 500mg amount in the morning and possibly another one last thing at night, or alternatively change that dose to 1g, but if it feels a bit harsh when you take it switch to buffered as buffered c is supposed to be a bit more gentle for people who experience a slight issue with regular c.

You may want to google these though to be on the safe side and for your own piece of mind. The best kind of sites to look at would ones like wisegeek, medicinenet, webmd, medline plus and Linus Pauling Institute to name a few and Linus Pauling won two nobel prizes I think for peace and chemistry, so you can trust anything that site says with your life in honest opinion.

Most if not all of those have good accreditation's like hon@ code and ADAM accreditation, which means they have been properly assessed in credible ways for the credibility of their info.

In relation to the diet there are some really good sources of zinc and vit c.

Admittedly whilst oysters are the best source of zinc, they are pricey, but chicken is always a good one and many other foods have zinc in like shellfish and beans for example.

As for vit c, pink guava is the highest at around 165mg, then broccoli and then things like oranges, tomatoes and potato, pink guava should be slightly better than normal guava as they contain lycopene, a carotenoid that can convert to vit a, (retinol-a) and helps destroy free radicals reducing oxydative stress and promoting more youthfulness in the skin for one thing, plus tomatoes are good at fighting cancer as they are a good source of vitamin c.

So there's a few things to think about :)

GOOD LUCK

Good for you with the jogging Christina, because anything you can reasonably do when partly incapacitated is better than nothing.

Kudos to you for that, because in world 3:30AM exists for sleeping only and occasionally toilet concerns, but as for any other aspects of living it doesn't even register on any level :tonguepoke: .
