I lost 1.2 pounds this week (I am basing that on my weight before I got the flu). I can't put much stock in that loss because I really haven't been eating over the last week, my stomach is finally back to normal today. Up until this morning I could hardly eat anything. Glad to have my appetite back, though.

I don't think I will be getting much for exercise this week. My sister was pregnant and lost the baby today  She is having an extremely difficult time with it and doesn't want to be alone. I will be spending most of my free time with her over the next week or so to help get her through her emotions. Her husband isn't very helpful, he went back to work after their hospital visit today, so she is going to need as much support as possible. I can't even imagine how horrible she is feeling right now - they told her the baby died two weeks ago and her body is just now telling her :(

I will try to get some exercise in and I will just have to focus on my diet this week, I guess. She has the elliptical at her house so I might try to squeeze in a few sessions.

I'm so sorry for your sister. I know personally how painful and emotionally hard it is to lose a baby. There are so many emotions you go through, from guilt, thinking you might have done something (which is almost never true) to intense loss and anger (questions of why & how did this happen?) and just a terrible sadness and even a sense of failure. What you can do for her is just be there for her, give her lots of hugs and a shoulder to cry on, keep a compassionate and listening ear and assure her that it was not anything she did, or didn't do - sometimes these things just happen without us ever really knowing or understanding why.

Hopefully you can get a few workouts in on the elliptical, or just do some bodyweight exercises - whatever you have time for. I'm glad you have your appetite back and you are feeling better! :)

I really feel for couples that lose babies. My sister in law was told she would have a hard time having children. They tried for a couple years, even thought about adopting and finally she was able to have a baby full term. The same baby that is in my profile pic. :) Its nice that you are able to be there for your sister and like Lynne said just do what you can.

just keep believing in your own ability to be the person she needs. You're very, very human and that is a great thing and I'm sure you're more than capable of doing what's required.

Good luck and no worries okay :).

Hey Joc.

This is another expert i guess that gives advice on how to handle knee pain. I came across it searching for something else but looked at it and didn't know if you would be interested at all. Hope your sister is doing better.

Thanks guys (and thanks for the link, Becky!). Lynne, I am so sorry to hear you had to go through that, I can't even imagine what it was like.

I have had a couple of very unproductive weeks. For a week and a half I pretty much lived at my sister's house - I came home to sleep for 5 hours a night and then work, then straight back to her house. It took a whole week after she found out about the miscarriage (which had happened two weeks prior, so three weeks total) for her body to get the baby out (and only after being induced). She has had a horrific two weeks so I couldn't leave her. She started falling into a depression and her husband didn't know how to handle it so I did what I could. She is doing much better now, both physically and emotionally.

Then on Monday I got a cold again. I am so sick of being sick I could scream. I had a cold mid-December that lasted forever. Then I was healthy for a few days before I got the flu, which took over a week to completely recover from, then I got another cold a week later. I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!! I think it is pretty much over now, thank goodness! Now I am hoping I stay healthy!

On top of all of this I lost my internet connection for the last 3 days - GRRRRRRR  I finally got it back today :) Not sure how, it just started working again.

All in all it has been a rough few weeks. Now I am leaving town this weekend so I am going to get back on track with food and exercise on Sunday when I get home! I will still try to eat healthy this weekend but I have to take both of my neices to movies this weekend (birthday presents, they each go separately with me even if they pick the same movie - LOL, stubborn girls :) ). I am a sucker for movie theater popcorn - I will try to avoid, but I am not making any promises

I am starting to get the itch to join a gym - I realized that if I join the cheap one close to my house it is only $25/month ($300/year) and then I would be refunded $200 from my health insurance. I am almost stupid not to join for $100 for an entire year! We'll see.

Hope everybody had a safe, healthy, and happy New Year :D

Be proud of yourself. The fact you had what it takes to be there for someone in such a terrible circumstance does you a lot of credit :).

Glad to hear your sister is doing better!

I think you should join the gym too Jocelyn. That's a great deal. I think a lot of times on the insurance offers you have to go a certain amount of times a month too to get the discount so that would keep you honest and make sure go at the same time!

I really like my gym A LOT! I don't have any regrets about joining! And like Les said. The closer to your house the better!

**Just thought i would add Go Pack! It looks like they are going to win this one!

I think I just have to show proof that I paid for it, but that would be kind of nice if I had to prove I was going - I will have to check into it. It definitely would keep me going!

I think just showing proof would be nicer actually, just so if you had an emergency you wouldn't have to worry about going to the club or that kind of thing.

I'm hoping for a Bears Packer rematch in the conference title game, which of course the Bears will win! :D :D

Monday night I did 30 minute on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the recumbent bike.

Last night I was down with a migraine so no workout - I am beginning to feel like I sound like a broken record - migraine, cold, flu, cold, migraine! Will it never end

Tonight I shoveled for 30 minutes and then I got some P90X DVDs from the library (who knew). Tonight I tried (and I stress "tried") the Kenpo Plus workout. OK, I felt like a whale flailing around in my living room    I officially feel uncoordinated :) I am glad nobody could see me  This was not the normal Kenpo, it is the extra one meant for the advanced people - I am sooooo not advanced  I think I will try the Total Body Plus tomorrow night - maybe that will go better :)

I am back on track for food - FINALLY!! I had my never fail meal tonight - chicken, brown rice, steamed asparagus - MMMMMMMM :D

Well at least you find out your limitations while in the privacy of your home.Today I tried my plyo push ups with 2 things under the step platform & realized ONCE again, that I am NOT at that level yet. However I tend to laugh at myself saying in my head " ahahahahha yeah you are SO not at that level yet chicky " then I think...so lets get busy to reach that level & beyond :) Keep going it only gets better & more rewarding.
