You guys looked wonderful together and your hard work is paying off and you're definitely close to where you want to be physically. You'll have a great future i'm sure of it, despite potentially a few normal ups and downs, because you just come across as 10,000% into each other :).

Hi All,

A quick update. I’m back from abroad and it was so much FUN. However, I didn’t do a good job watching what I was eating…  . However, I did keep up with my workouts. :P The cruise & hotels had a gym so I went every morning!!! I gained some pounds b/c of the various foods I ate but not much because I kept active and we walked a lot to the point I couldn’t walk anymore and begged my “husband” to get massage on the cruise. It was pricey but it was so worth it after all the walking… rain or shine… we walked! :|

I’m still on vacation and have a lot of cleaning up to do so that’s my workout! Seriously the place is a mess and it will take me days to clean up! I’ll be back sometime next week and will continue my workout and diet… why? Because I might go to Laos & Thailand next year! My husband (Man, I am not use to saying that yet!) and I agree no kids until next year or 2… we are in no rush… so, I want to be in great shape when I go back and see my family (I have no idea who they are by the way) but I can’t wait until next April… That’s my next vacation! So…. Another goal to look forward to!

I just got these and wanted to share (Photos & Video)… man, I look so nervous in the video when I was saying my vows… I can totally say ten thousand negative things about myself like my arms are so big, I look fat, my face is really big, I wished I didn’t eat at all & the video & photos do put like 5-10lbs extra…. but you know what? I told myself... I worked hard to be where I was… So, even though it wasn’t the size I wanted to be on my wedding day… I was comfortable & happy with both inner and outer me!(Inner self-esteem & outer physical appearance)That's why I am able to share this

However you could have told yourself that you were not as beautiful as you'd hoped to become, but you were still beautiful and definitely a very, very beautiful person on the inside :).

You worked hard to be the person in those photos and that video and I'm really proud of you, because when it came to it, you absolutely shone misses and I wish you and him all the luck and happiness in the world ).

I also think it's quite enlightening to see that you and he are not from the same origins. You are Phillipino and Edgard is Laotian if I noticed correctly.

In the modern world, it's great to see people from mixed backgrounds being able to unite, without fear of being criticised for not marrying someone of their own background. In some countries, this would not be permissible or if it was, not always tolerated by some.

In Britain unfortunately, there is still a small undercurrent of dislike for such things. A person whose predecessors are immigrants from the Asian subcontinent I.E. India, Pakistan, might be reviled by their own family, for loving a white person and vice versa, Some asian beliefs are that such things bring shame and some but not all people with such Asian backgrounds, adhere to this draconian and loathesome attitude to humanity, which is a bad thing, as nobody should ever think like that and in some cases, people of such backgrounds have even been known to follow teachings, that shame equals punishment, which could include death of the one bringing shame.

I am not sure if your two backgrounds are similar or not, or what similarities in culture and tradition exist, but as long as you both remember to always value the other as much as is possible, you will never have any problems at all, becasue I've always believed you and he were made for each other and I'd stand by that.

You have a heart of sunshine and the grace of a Dove in flight and that's why I know you and he will make it work, because I can see plenty of evidence that he sees the inner you to her fullest and respects and cherishes that person, as much as it's physically possible to.

So I will say CONGRATULATIONS to both of you, for never giving up on each other and always believing in what you had. You have both proven why you can both live long and emotionally prosper and grow together as one, by never being anything less than you both needed to be to one another.

I'm happy for you Boua because you deserve this and you looked fantastic as well :).

P.S. what's the deal with sticking money onto each other; just for fun or a cultural thing for luck or some such reason?

Actually, it’s the other way around. He is Filipino & I am Lao. English is actually my third language… My second is Thai. (I was wearing my traditional outfit too - It's the pink one)

I agree. My family did have hope for me and was trying to do an arrange marriage with someone with the same or similar background but it didn’t work for me. First off, I’m not in my country. Second, it’s my life and my future… They know better or else I’ll cut them loose financially…   so, I win! :P I can pick whoever I want from my end.

As for the wedding we did have our struggles… due to our different background. I mentioned here before that he was Catholic and his family wanted a church wedding. However, in order for me to marry in a church wedding... I would have to convert. :| It became a big issue but we overcame it and … I put my foot down… I will NOT convert just to please ANYBODY… If I want to convert it would be because I believe in it & I shouldn’t be force to.

As for the money dance…. It’s for his side of the family. I’m not really sure what’s it for but it was traditional…. I guess it’s to help us with the wedding? But see the link below.

You should be proud of yourself for not converting, because obviously your beliefs are very important and sacred to you so I can completely understnad that, as being atheist, I would never adopt any religion of any kind, not for anyone, because it would certainly stifle my emotional independance.

Nokie, you look absolutely stunning in your wedding pictures - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! And that vacation is great motivation to keep working hard :D And great job on working out while on your cruise. I went on a cruise in April and my goal was to run on the treadmill every day (they faced out onto the ocean, it was beautiful!) but it didn't happen even once

Thanks Jocelyn :D

I’m Back – Finally!!!… After a very long vacation & even when I got back to the States, I was still on vacation mode… I had a hard time getting myself together. I didn’t want to clean up, didn’t feel like eating healthy, didn’t want to workout and even worse… didn’t want to leave the house. I was a couch potato!

I finally got my groove back… I’ve been slowly cleaning my messy house. Eating more salads, fruits & green veggies. Started to stretch at home and went back to class starting today. Damn, I’m tired! – I forget how intensive kick boxing can be :? … I had one of those side cramps when I was jumping and kicking… so I had to slow down a bit.

6/11/12
6:30AM – Black coffee, rice, shrimp, Thai sausages
10AM – Hard boiled eggs x 2, apple
12PM – Kick Boxing – Proteins shake
1:30PM – Grilled BBQ pork sandwich & salad
4:00PM – Meal replacement shake
7:00PM – Grilled orange chicken with steam cabbage

6/18/12
6:00AM – wheat waffles x2
9:00AM – Wheat & egg burrito, black coffee
12PM – Spaghetti & beef ball, peach x 2
3:30PM – Meal replacement shake
6:00PM – BBQ chicken & green salad
7:30PM - Cardio (Elliptical) x 45mins - Protein shake

I missed my workout during lunch because of work & deadlines. So, I'll workout tonight. I don't know why... I'm being VERY lazy... I mean, I'm usually on top of things.. I was really stress with wedding, budget, tax season but I still made time to work out 2 times a day & do all my chores. Now, I have an "I don't care" attitude and it's driving me crazy. I think I'm still in the lazy vacation mode but I should seriously wake up and get motivated again... but once I get home, all I want to do is lay in bed and read my stupid Mangas/Comics and when I look at the clock, damn it's already 11PM!

So… I decided to get OUT of the house after work! I will pack my gym clothes and after work, I’ll drive straight to this beautiful lake. It’s 4 something miles. It’s about 20mins drive (No traffic) from my house. I will start slow… It’s funny, I used to live by the lake and it would only take me 5mins to walk there… for 2 years, I NEVER once went there.

I will still do Kick Boxing during lunch but when I don’t go to the gym and I know once I get home I’ll get lazy... So, by going to the lake I HOPE I can get going again! :D
