Skully's Diet journal - help me get rid of fat!

Postby skully » Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:53 am

Hi everyone!

I really want to start losing fat now (while maintaining and gaining a little bit of muscle). I slowly want to get ripped and I am not sure the foods I am eating is doing me any favors or somehow are working against me. Last year, I suppousedly lost 11% of bodyfat in pretty much a year. And I gain and lose 1-2% on and off. Right now, last I checked my bodyfat was at 27%, although I highly doubt it as I look pretty lean & someone who's more overweight than me has less bodyfat% so I am very confused as to where my bodyfat stands at. My only problen area is....duh, my stomach. I do have VERY little fat in my arms and legs, but I am mostly muscle there now (just need definition).

I have been eating the SAME kinds of food, on and on and on in one year & I just am getting SICK OF IT. I need suggestions, when is the best time to eat what...etc. I want my bodyfat to drop below 20%...or between 18-20%. How long should it take? 2.5 months?10-12 weeks maybe? I started reducing my food intake 2 weeks ago.

Here is what I had today. I'll be mentioning my food & workouts.

10:30 a.m. 2 scarmbled eggs eaten with lebanese brown bread ( I only had like 3 bites of the whole thing...egss just dont taste good no more., coffee, and 500ml of water
11:30 fruit (pear)
12:00-1:00p.m. MMA training (lots of drills and polys, boxing, ab workouts, sprinting, pounding...) p.s. I don' hydrate during workout as the instructor says the longer you can survive without water the stronger your body gets, plus I get side stiches if I drink during or before workout. I was recently able to do this, 4 weeks after training
1:15 30g of protein shake followed by bout 600-700ml of water post workout
3:00 a small cup of white rice, grilled chicken, and veggies & a bit more water 100-200ml
4 p.m. got so tired, I napped.
6:00 half a cup of lowfat milk & half a slice of lebanese white bread w/ 2 tbsp of natural skippy peanut butter
8:00 wholewheat pasta (small cup), sliced chicken breast with (sauce) 1tsp of olive oil, a bit of garlic, herbs, and 1tbsp of cheese. & 300l of water
I still have one more meal to go, it could be either a protein shake or milk....and I hope to GOD I don't have cereal with it.

my issue is, recently after EACH of my main meals, I CRAVE something sweat. Always after eating chicken, rice, or pasta as the food is so DRY. What kind of something sweet I can eat that won't hinder my progress, please don't say fruit, pleaseeee!?

How's my food in general, any suggestions?

I do try to have about 100g of protein everyday, and I do drink 2-3L of water (which is good enough for my bodyweight I think).

My stats: 21years, F, 158cm, 51.5-53kgs.

I usually sleep around 2 .a.m btw and wake up between 10-11 (right now I am unemployed, for the next 4 weeks) and then have to figure things out all over again with a damning job. woohoo for me, not. :(

(Try mixing a bit of Olive Oil into the Eggs before scrambling and see how that works and maybe sprinkle some chopped herbs on top. You could also cook the Bread so it toasts and see how that works.)

11:30 fruit (pear)

(I'd add a bit more Protein in here, like a bit of Chicken perhaps. Just give the Pear about 10-15 minutes to diest to improve diestion.)

1:15 30g of protein shake followed by bout 600-700ml of water post workout

3:00 a small cup of white rice, grilled chicken, and veggies & a bit more water 100-200ml

(That's fine, but you may need to limit the Chicken and Veggies and Rice has Carbs and protein, so you might be over consuming the protein and Carbs a bit, or just reduce the Rice portion a bit.)

6:00 half a cup of lowfat milk & half a slice of lebanese white bread w/ 2 tbsp of natural skippy peanut butter

(This needs more calories as it's a bit low)

8:00 wholewheat pasta (small cup), sliced chicken breast with (sauce) 1tsp of olive oil, a bit of garlic, herbs, and 1tbsp of cheese. & 300l of water

(I don't think you need the Cheese in here.)

Hi Boss,

I have tried adding olive oil & some herbs on top of the eggs, it does taste better, but eggs are too heavy for morning!

As for the 11:30, it's not really a meal as it's 30mins pre workout and I need something to give me energy throughout my workout, and if I eat protein or drink, I'd face bad side stiches.

I don't think I am overconsuming the protein, carbs mabe, but my portions are usually very little. Here's an example: http://yfrog.com/h50xszj this how my playe looks like almost everyti,me I eat lunch and mostly I don't finish the rice.

I'll limit the cheese then and take it out of the sauce!

Thanks a lot. But is what I am eating healthy/OK?

Okay my craving for sweet stuff, is just not going to die anytime soon. I do fine all day, and resisting eating something sweet, until late at night when I can't hold it anymore.

11:30 2 scrambled eggs with olive oil and & herbs.
3:15 Organic fettucine with grilled chicken with garlic and olive oil dressing.
5:00-6:15 Full Body workout. I DEADLIFTED 62.5KGS TODAY (4REPS!!!) I am close to my mid-year goal (70kgs)
6:30 30g potein shake, needed sth carby and just didn't have time to think of something since I had to get out of the gym and go out again
7:00 lemon & mint juice.
8:30 2 grilled chicken breast with lemon and herb sauce with a side salad with ving. & olive oil dressing (I was out)..cough..sprite.
2 hours later and I am hungry again! Who said protein keeps you full is full of BS!
and my sweet tooth started acting up.
10:30 1 waffle with a tbsp of chocolate sauce.

And i'll be having a protein shake before I sleep or milk.

Bleh. This is just too messed up. I HAVE to have something sweet, either chocolate, ice cream or that yummy yogurt i cant find anymore (yocrunch)..otherwise I end up screwing at night 10x worse. Rather have the aboce post workout than at 11pm. What do I do?

I don't like dark chocolate at all. I like Lindt's milk chocolate the 35g ones. Everytime I try not to have something sweet, the cravings get 10x worse than when I have them right post-workout cuz that's when they increase & especially after lunch, dinner..as meals are very dry. It still presists even if I brush my teeth.

and trust me I DISLIKED chocolate bars all MY LIFE! ie kitkats, snickers...etc.

If the Eggs get a bit of an issue, then remove one Yolk and keep one Yolk in, so it should not feel as heavy.

I always eat one yolk, and when the 2 eggs get bigger in size, I just can't eat the whole thing =S. I'll try to alternate between the type of eggs I eat with oatmeal, maybe I won't be as sick of scrambled as much.

Today's meal

11:30 Jungle oatsy meal (chocolate). Hardly finished the 50g. It was too heavy, again. & 1 waffle (CD size). Coffee.
3:00 Grilled chicken, rice, and veggies, 3mmins later green tea
4:30-5:30 yoga
5:30 Protein shake with LF milk.
6:30 100g of cottage cheese with chopped green olives
8:00 (quick snack as I had to leave the house) 10 almonds.
8:45-10, brisk walking outdoors with a friend...although we took a ...stop. Ehm, for ice cream but the ice cream was okay nutrition wise. It's an American kind of shop, I forgot it's nameeee! argh. But These were the nutrition value of the vanilla: 80cals,
1.5g of fat, 1 sat. carbs 14g or so, 4g sugar, 5g protein or so. So it didn't seem really bad.
We had it while walking.
Then we had dinner
10:00 I had hummus & grilled chicken with water.

That's it...I won't be having anything else tonight.

Are my meals really bad today?

at least the yoga instructor was impressed with my leg size & arms. She told me my body has improved.

Take the word " CAN'T " out of your vocabulary. If you want a low fat body you will do what is necessary to achieve it, or not, its that simple.

maybe i shouldnt aim for a low bodyfat since it seems unrealistic right about now.

---Edit---

So I went to check my body analysis today as usual, slow results. Last I checked was 6-weeks ago.

All I can say is that I gained 0.3kgs of muscle (0.66lbs) & lost 0.3kgs of fat (totaling 14.4kgs of fat & 21.3kgs of muscle) with a body fat if 27% (0.7%) loss.

The trainer told me, bottom line, my genes sucks and I have to work 10x time harder to ever get my bodyfat lower than 20%. Ya, screw everything then.

Meals today:

12:15 2 scrambled eggs with coffee
2:45 pear
3:00 wholewheat pasta w/grilled chicken
5:00-6:00 upperbody workouts.
6:15 protein shake
7:00 100g of cottage cheese, chopped olives, and 1tbsp of olive oil
8:30 Salad w/chicken; lettuce, corn, olives, LF fetta cheese (like 6 dice-size), balsamic ving, 1 tsp of olive oil.

I'll just drink milk now, don't know if I should have 7almonds or not, given my carbs are less, but my healthy fat is a bit more than usual.... :?

I doubt it's that little! Otherwise, I'd be dropping in weight like a maniac.

Meal one is about 350 (forgot to eat eaten with bread)
Pear (50cals)
Meal 2 (450)
meal 3 30g of protein about 150cals
meal 4 about 250
meal 5 about 400cals

thats 1650 cals. I'll be adding 1 cup of milk & 7-10almonds, that would be another 150-200cals. I am trying to lose fat now. So I am eating a bit less for the next 3-4 weeks. (plus 2 weeks past) then I'll decide what I want to start doing once I start my job..

30 g of protein is 120 ( 30 x 4 )

Here are a couple of links to help you with your vegetable & fruit choices..Lower calorie could result no weight loss, body doesn't like low calorie.

I really don't think I eat that little, maybe it varies from day to day as I change my meals. I honestly don't know how to pack on calories anymore. I can hardly finish the 50g of oats I am eating right now, which is ONLY 200calories & I can't seem to eat anything else with it for protein. I know my "lunch" portions are usually good and are about 350-450 cals at most. My snacks are usually low in cals, I admit. 150-250. Damn, sometimes I eat 7 times a day...=S.

If you gained 0.3Kg of muscle and lost 0.3kg's of Fat, where's the Trainers problem? Unless the time frame is very stretched out and the changes were slow.
