I thought that caffeine being bad for you was a common misconception? Like everything, especially involving drugs like caffeine which are habit-forming, I've read that moderation is the key, but it's not inherently bad for people and doesn't lead to any conditions that are not already pre-existing. Boss do you have any sources to recommend that I could check out?

Caffeine blocks your iron uptake which could increase anemia risk, by preventing some of your Red Blood Cell formation and reduce the Myoglobin in your muscles, which is created with Iron, so that would decrease Oxygen storage in your Muscles. Not useful for exercise.

Caffine can also potentially cause Stomach Ulcers, Heartburn and the Xanthines can be converted to Uric Acid like Nitrogen in proteins is, which could increase Gout risk.

The first link you posted suggest having more nergy from Caffeine, but if you're getting less Red Blood Clell formation from Iron blockage and less Myoglobin formation as well, then less muscle Oxygen and bloodvessel constriction, could result in reduced bloodflow and Oxygen delivery through the body and ATP is made of Oxygen, so possibly less ATP creation and more Lactic Acid production when you have less Oxygen to use during Glycogen breakdown, (Glycolysis).

Tannic Acid in tea interferes wiht Iron too.

Coffee and Tea in minor amounts might be fine, but I can't stand the smell and don't drink them. Antioxidents exists in Vegetables, Fruits, Eggs, Legumes, Grains and Dairy, so need for Tea or Coffee.

Caffeine is only associated with all of those side-effects if you abuse it though. My point was more about how people somehow have the impression that coffee, like alcohol and smoking, is somehow an unhealthy habit that is taking away from your overall health. If you're having a cup or two in the morning, you're completely fine... unless you load it up with sugar and chocolate syrup and stuff and are trying to lose weight

I'm back from my trip, with lots of good news! I lost about 5lbs (if not a little more because I'm bloated from TOM) and I have a boyfriend now who I have known and adored for 8 years. I changed a lot of my plans for my trip and instead of visiting a lot of cities, I ended up staying with him and his family for all but 6 of the days I was on my trip. Haha. Anywho, I feel amazing, he has helped me so much while I was there when it comes to my self-esteem and such, he's truly a godsend and I have never been happier than the weeks I spent with him and his family. I also got several piercings and a tattoo whilst in glasgow (a total of four new holes in my body if you don't count the thousands created by a tattoo haha). I am not so happy now that I'm home, but that is only because I miss him terribly. Anyway, I love the caffiene debate that occured, and I did drink coffee, almost everyday since my boyfriend made me breakfast and coffee almost every morning.

I had a really good workout yesterday, and today I've got a lot of cleaning (read: heavy lifting and moving) to do. I ate pretty well yesterday though I'm pretty sure I didn't eat QUITE enough, but I'll keep a closer eye on that. My boyfriend is going to try to keep tabs on me when it comes to my eating and such (Ironically, this odd fat girl in the states has a pretty knowledgable fitness trainer (in-training) boyfriend in Scotland). Anyway, with that tiny update, I'm off to get my day started.

Thanks, Becky. :] I met my boyfriend online eight years ago on an artists community. We've been talking for the whole 8 years and I was originally just going to go visit him as a friend, well, we've both known that we've had feelings for eachother for the past 6 or 7 years of knowing each other and whilst I was there things just clicked and felt right as a couple and we made it so. He tells me all the time that I'm gorgeous and he loves me and my body just the way it is and that he will love me whether or not I meet my goals, but if I want to lose weight, then he will do everything he can to help me. He's actually writing me a training plan. (His idea, not mine) and he is going to try to help me utilise what I have access to here at home and whilst I'm at school. He's an absolutely amazing man and I adore him (my family does too!) Everything is just going swimmingly lately and I hope it stays like this for a long long long time.

He is better off helping you. Saying he'd love you no matter what you look like is great, but that could be construed by some, as an attitude that encourages the individual, not to bother changing their unsatisfactory body, because someone is doing things to make them more comfortable with it, but as you have expressed a desire to change, his helping you will make things a little better and easier and it's good to know that things with you are getting so much more emotionally calm and you are finding more of the feelings and sensations in life you have always deserved to have.

You are someone that has a great beauty inside, that at times does find it's way to the surface, finds the light beyond the dark and shines and he is lucky to be with you, but also intelligent enough to see that in you, like I always have, because I always knew even when you came here and seemd to act erratically and looked at times like you were being bitchy, I knew it wasn't like that and that you were just someone with partially damaged and muddled up emotions and thoughts, as a result of a very challenging upbringing.

So the fact he can recognise, that amongst all that chaos, confusion and maelstron of emotions, exists the beautiful light within that I mentioned, makes him an intelligent guy, so your mind his intellect and sense will be a very good match I feel and I wish you well with this I really do, becasue I have longed for you to find more of the happiness in life, after so much difficulty, heart-ache, pain and darkness in your life.

I believed you deserved more, could achieve more, have more and be moe than you were at times willing to accept and now it seems it's coming good for you.

I'm sending you a BIG HUG and I want you to know I am still as proud of you as I always have been, becasue you have never given up on yourself and it didn't take his knowledge and background to somehow rekindle lost physiological ambitions in you, you never lost those; hence why you effectively told him, that regardless of how much he loves your current look, you don't want it and have never stopped wanting to look and feel so much better.

Whatever happens, I will stilll be around for you and that won't change unless you express it and wish it so, because I will always care about you as a human being and that won't stop until you wish it so, or the decision is taken out of my hands so to speak.

Keep smiling, keep pushing, chin up and keep believing Jena. You're such a wonderful, fantastic and terrific young Lady, when you let your light shine and the sunshine break through the darkness and you deserve so much from this world, because you've had to pay way too many emotional dues in life, to get here now and now is the time when the world should pay back with interest, even though that's not how life works when it should, but I hope life gives back so much more than it's taken thus far, because you ARE worth it so much and you are worth and deserve to know and feel, all the greatest and finest emotions humans can create.

Bret merely wants me to be happy. If I were happy at my size, he wouldn't mind, if I were happy to lose weight, again, it didn't matter to him. He loves me for WHO I am, not what I look like or what I have or what I can do and it's incredibly refreshing. I've never had anyone be happy with me the way I am. No one and to actually feel like I'm being treated like a human being is a first, an absolutely amazing first. I thank you so much for your support and wise words and everything, Boss.
