That's why I keep wanting to do the morning workouts, I always feel so much better when I do 8) Unfortunately since I am up at 5:15 for my regular day I would have to be up at 4:00 to workout! But I may have a new opportunity (not getting my hopes up but crossing my fingers at the same time) and it would allow me to start work later (and travel to China) - and since I am already used to getting up at 5:15 I would still get up to workout at that time - PLUS I would still get home from work at the same time as I do now - win/win situation. So I am keeping my fingers crossed :D

Nokie, I am with Lynne and Bonnie - seriously, no dressing?? Doesn't it get really dry?

I love to have gilled fish fillet with salad (No dressing) Oh yum.... :P

Wed, thus, fri

Meal#1 – Oatmeal
Meal#2 – wheat bread, eggs
Meal#3 – Rice, chicken, steam veggie
Meal#4 – protein bar
WORKOUT – Insanity Training Day #11 – Protein shake
Meal #5 – Steam veggie, ground turkey
Meal #6 – Scramble eggs (If still hungry)

The workout has been great and brutal!!! I was sooooo tired after workout yesterday… I took a LONG nap… my body was all numb. So far it has been 11 days… Once I hit 30days… I will move on to the other DVD’s. The total of Insanity training is 60 days! After Insanity I will do P90X!!!

Confession – I haven’t been around here or doing any house chores because I’ve been addicted to Japanese comic books!!! I found a website with English subtitles!!!! HAHAHAHA… dang it! Such a guilty pleasure! However, I still manage to make myself workout tho (When I’m NOT in front of the computer…. I’m productive!!!) But like any other addiction… I need to STOP it or manage my time with it better!!!

Have a good weekend all…. (Since it's Friday... Imma finish reading my comics... and will start being around here starting Next week!!!)
I've been in trouble for NOT doing my house chores :( (So... next week I really need to limit my comic time.... )

Wed:

Meal#1 – Oatmeal
Meal#2 – Wheat bread, eggs
Meal#3 – Soup, turkey sandwich ½
Meal#4 – Protein Bar
Meal#5 – Veggie, ground turkey soup

I’ve been reading comics non-stop… hehehehe… I also stumble upon Korean Comics too!!! CRAZY hilarious…. I was really bored in bed for the last 2 days… But anyways, I’m back and comics are being controlled for reward time…. (I can’t really do my chores at the moment….)

Sunday night, I set my alarm to 5AM so I can workout in the morning!!! I was soooo proud of myself. I got up before my alarm!!! YAY… so, I started with my workout… did my proper warm up and stretch. It was day #15 for Insanity training (I had to do a fit test again) I was really happy with the score because I did way better then the 1st fit test. However, in the middle of the test, I was doing some jumps and felt a stabbing pain in my lower back. I actually fell down and couldn’t move. I had to drag myself to the shower and lay down. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t sit up, I couldn’t walk… So, I had to call in for work. (Man... I was so happy to actually work out in the Morning too!!!!)

Anytime I twist my body left of right or move my legs…. I would feel a stabbing pain. I had to crawl to the bathroom… Ok, self pity! Anyways… I was debating to go to the hospital but no one was home and I couldn’t drive… So, I called the advice nurse… they told me to take ibuprofen and just need to rest. If it gets any worse… go to the ER. So, I just put hot and cold patch and took some vicodin! Knocked out! (Of course, when I got up… I read nothing but comic books…hehehehe) I couldn’t eat much because my teeth hurt!!! I had to eat soft stuff and I couldn’t really cook so I had a lot of instant noodles (YUCK!)

The next day, I at least can sit up a little bit but I had to lay in bed most of the time. I had to use my umbrella as a cane to walk around the house. I really wanted to clean up and do things but I can’t bend down… Ohwell… back to bed and read comic books! (Ahhhhh…. Guilty pleasure!!!)

Today, I at least can walk but cannot sit down long and have to get up every now and then… My co-workers are making fun of me saying I’m OLD and walk like a granny! What the hell… I’m only 28!! Some said it’s the nerves, some said it’s the muscle while some said it’s sciatica… never heard of it…. Gotta do some reading on WebMD.

At the moment, I cannot workout… heck I can’t even walk properly! So, I will take this whole week off and maybe… I hope to be better by Monday!!!

Ok, what should I do?? Should I continue from where I left off (Day#15?) or should I start over from Day #1 after taking a week off?? I’m thinking of starting from day#1 because after a week off… I don’t know how my endurance will be… any inputs?

Oh, man, what rotten luck!!!!! I sure hope your back feels better soon - don't start working out again until you know for sure you are better. Ouch, back injuries aren't something to mess around with! Welcome back, though, we've missed you :D

Oh man Nokie I'm sorry to hear about your back! I would definitely keep icing it if I were you. As far as the workouts go, I would ease in slowly and only do it if it doesn't cause you pain. If you can start back where you were when you left off then do that, if not cut it back a bit. You definitely don't want to do too much too soon and reinjure yourself. If nothing else, you could ease back in with some light cardio and increase from there as long as your back feels ok. I tweaked my back the week before last and was in IMMENSE pain for a full day, then the next day it started to feel better so did a little light cardio, and by the 3 day it was a little better again so increased the cardio a bit. By the 4th day i was able to add weights but only did exercises that didn't cause pain. If I felt any pain at all while doing the exercise I would stop immediately. Bottom line... ease in slowly and listen to your body. ;)

If it was muscular it probably wouldn't be a shooting pain, as the lower Back pain would prohably be isolated around the Quadratus Lumborum, or the lower Erector Spinae muscles, (Longissimus, Spinalis, Intercostalis).

I suspect the shooting sensation is down to a trapped nerve. I think you might have either

A: inflamed the nerve.

B: inflamed a muscle, causing a mild swelling and impingement of the nerve.

If it's nervous, you might be able to get an NCV, (Nerve Conduction Velocity), Test done like you would with Carpal or Tarsal Tunnel syndrome. This involves a pad stimulating a nervous response, that another pad measures.

So this may need to be a consideration if you get medically assessed.

Thanks for all your great advices.

At the moment… I am feeling WAAAAAY better… Should I still get it check out? Or just let it heal by itself. I can walk and sit down.
I still cannot bend as low… maybe I just need more time to heal?

I don’t think I will go back to insanity next week if I recover… I’ll do a light cardio with the elliptical at home then slowly ease myself in.
Then, I’ll do the fit test again… After the result… it will determine if I should start back from Day#1 or Day#15.

Thursday:

Meal#1 – Banana, tea
Meal#2 – Oatmeal
Meal#3 – Turkey wrap
Meal#4 – Soup and side salad
Meal#5 – Shrimp and veggies
Meal#6 – Scramble eggs and salsa (If still hungry)

There is a lack of protein in meal 1, lack of veggies in meal 3 & 6.Beware of those protein bars, the ones I used to love had about 27 grams of carbs, outweighs the benefit of protein per bar, in my opinion, though they taste like a candy bar.

Ut oh - The Oatmeal alone in Brentyboys Homemade Protein Bars puts 68g of carbs in each bar!!!!! No wonder I'm not losing weight! ERROR!!!! Re-calculated the carbs for the oatmeal, can't imagine WHAT I was looking at...but the entire bar has 32g of carbs - phew!!! Still too much according to Bonnie. :(

Nokie - is that all you eat, really? It does seem like very little food, especially for the kind of workouts you do. Any excess fat should be gone, gone, gone! OR, if not, maybe you need to eat more....guess not the protein bars I've been eating though

Hey Nokie - I just read back a few and see that you hurt yourself...that INSANITY workout looks brutal!!! Do you know what you were doing when the pain started? Was it during the fit test? I know you hate to lose momentum, but do what's right for your body - whether you start back at Day#1 or #15 - I'd do that program if I could do a push up - looks like lots of push ups! Hope you are 100% soon!

32 grams of Carbs is not a massive problem. If someone ate around 2,500 calories a day, and had a 30% Carb ratio, they'd consume 750 calories of Carbs, which is 187.5g Carbs.

That over 6 meals, equates to 31.25g Carbs per meal.

So 27g isn't going to be an issue, unless they were just purely simple Carbs, like refined sugar or Sucrose, soemthing like that

Hey Lu,

I think i hurt myself during the fit test because I didn't give myself enough time to properly loosen my muscles.
Since it was the 1st time i worked out in the morning... I should have did some of my own warm ups as well as the video warm up.
Yes, INSANITY is brutal... but I really enjoy it.. it's very challenging and i feel like I want to push myself harder.
Yeah, i had a little injury from it... but that's not gonna stop me from doing it again.

What I listed is actually a lot but i just wrote it simple. I didn't really put the amount i'm eating
Although, i really need to watch it as i'm not really working out...

As for my back... It's better... OMG it's Wayyyyyyy better.. i just don't sit long.
Later today or tomorrow, i will do light cardio and lift some light weights..
Then next week.. i'll do Insanity again and will start from Day #1 since it will be 2 weeks i'm not doing it.

Oh, and for the protein bar... it's homemade... Although it might be kinda high in carbs... i need it for insanity.
However, i do only eat those in the morning or mid afternoon before workout... I try to limit my carbs at night...
But... I'm kinda bad at the moment... I have mad cravings for junks!!!!

I need FOOD at home... so i'll update tomorrow...
