Headphoners

Postby Lesplease » Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:29 am

Helloooo my lovelies.

I am a headphone graveyard. Please advise:

I've had 3 pairs of these (1 Wigface ate (snuck into my purse and nibbled 'em to death), 1 i used til they got lost, and 1 broke about a week after i bought them)
http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-S2INBT ... 918&sr=8-1

mine were all pink, not sure if that makes a difference but i'm thinking probably, yes. I bought them because they were cheap (on sale @ target!!) and had a skull on them. (And were delicious, apparently).

I've had one pair of nike's, similar to the skull candys, no wrap around. Good sound, (and blocking, couldn't even hear the lawn mower with 'em on!), but they fall out a lot. I still have them, though I don't use them much. I cannot find a link to them, they are very very old, and probably not made anymore.

By and large I have avoided the over-the-ear style, mostly because things get stuck in my hair and earrings. Things getting stuck on my earrings is painful and bloody.

But then I found these which were recc'd by my sister. Good sound, good blocking, but, they start to "wiggle" loose after a few minutes. This isn't an issue while jogging or whatever it is I do, because I can smash em back in, and the bud doesn't fall out and swing around til I can grab it, since it has the extra ear piece. However, when I am jumping, They fall loose very quickly (after about 20 or 30 jumps, under 30 seconds). This is troublesome because in order to fix it i have to stop jumping, which defeats the point of trying to increase my maximum jumps. (I make charts!)

I started shopping around for replacements, and found these. They have good reviews on amazon, specifically regarding the "fall out" or "wiggle" factor:

Thoughts? Comments? Anyone have a similar problem/solution they'd like to share before I buy another pair of headphones?
Thanks! - LP

You need to wiggle-proof the wire with this stuff: http://www.delikon.com/racecar1.html

Also, rabbits don't like cow dung, so rubbing a generous amount of cow dung all over the head set should protect both the head set and Wiggles.

Yes, Les I feel your pain! I have had earphone issues with just about every type of headphone, earphone device made. I used to have the Sony earclips similar to the one you show, the problem with that was they really didn't fit my ear and would slip off while running, or after i got sweaty they would not stay put! I found a pair by Phillips that are smaller (I have dainty ears 8) ) that don't give me any problems:

I got them at Walmart for less than $10.
The little earbuds have never worked for me...they don't stay in, I don't know how anyone wears those things.
I also tried some of those that fit on your ears and behind the neck, but they really felt awkward and forget wearing a cap or a ponytail!
What I think would be perfect and I have not seen yet (maybe I should patent the idea!) is an adjustable ear clip that could be molded to fit your ear dimensions exactly. Something bendable (sort of like a pipe cleaner with padding) to give each person a perfect fit.
Anyway, I hope you find one that works for you.

3 good ones i've heard of.

1. Skullcandy

2. Bose noise reduction. I think they're headphones anyway.

3. Sennheiser.

I LOOOOOVE the skull candys, just not for workin' it. They are super great for airplane rides and computering though! (Ckull candys were originally made for gamers, I think. Gamers are dorks, and therefore a good judge of that kind of thing!)

Really, what it comes down to is how well I can jump rope in 'em! Thanks boss!
