Asics shoes question

Postby feelin-great » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:43 am

Hello! I am currently using the Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism video but I need new shoes. Right now I have been wearing my running shoes but my feet really start to hurt in circuit 2 and halfway through circuit 3 I am in tears! Obviously I need some cross training shoes. I have always loved Asics shoes and my research shows that the Asics Gel-Kushon TR shoes are pretty much what I am looking for. I don't want to buy them online until I have been to a store to try them on (I hate returns!).

My problem is that I can't find them. I am finding the Asics Gel-Kushon and the Asics Gel-Kushon 2 - from what I have found these are both running shoes. But the shoe store claims that the Kushon is the same as the Kushon TR - I am skeptical about this. It is really important to me to have a good pair of shoes because the last thing I need is an injury!

Can anybody tell me - are these the same shoe or is the saleperson just misinformed? I know it's a long shot that somebody will know this, but I thought I would give it a shot.

Thanks!

The Women's Asics Gel-Kushon TR looks more like a watered down version of a running shoe. A good cross trainer will have good heel stability and will be a bit more sturdy and heavy than a running shoe. You need adequate forefoot cushioning.

I like the looks of these Asics Gel 100 TR better:

There seems to be more stability around the heel, ankle and forefoot.

I have Jillian's 30 day shred video, and I know exactly what you are talking about. :D All I have are running shoes and my feet take a beating with all the plank jacks and skaters, etc. I may need to invest in a good pair of cross trainers as well.

Good luck with everything, hope this helps you a bit!

I did a quick search for the Asics Gel 100 but every website that came up was in the UK. Is this shoe not sold in the US?

I have the 30 day shred as well - she has some really tough videos! The thing I don't like about the 30 day shred is that I want to work out for more than 20 minutes and it is a hassle to have to watch the cool down and then do a second warm up! The Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is great!

Here is an Asics Cross trainer you can order right from Asics:

There is a store locator option on that page, maybe you can find a store near you that carries them.

I just got the 30 days shred video, and I started at Level 2, I generally skip the warmup and cooldowns too, lol! I'm like..."come on, let's get to it!" It's a good workout especially if you don't have alot of time, if nothing else I learned some new variations on lunges and squats and planks that I can incorporate into my regular strength workout. Does the Banish Fat video have longer workouts? I may want to get that one too.

The Banish Fat video is 40 minutes long not including the warm up and coold down - I love it! There are seven circuits so it has quite a variety of moves. Plus there is an option to choose specific circuits so if you are crunched on time and don't have the 50-55 minutes you can choose however many circuits you want :)

If it comes down to it, Zappos.com has free shipping AND return shipping. Also every time I've ever ordered from there, they've upgraded me to overnight shipping. My sister and I call it prior day shipping they send 'em so fast!

My problem with returns is that I don't do it! They will sit there for months before I get around to returning them and by then it is too late to return  I know, no excuse - I suppose I could give it a try, thanks for the tip!
