Interval Training

Post by garethlello1979 »

Hi guys,

I want to start interval training in with routine on a cross trainer but wanted to know some starter routines.

At the gym today i did a 10 min warm up level 1 30 seconds full out level 5 then 1min at level 1. I did this for 5 times then 10 minutes to cool down.

Is this a good start and how do i progress as i do it more often?

I don't really use these machines, but perhaps if there is a setting that allows you to use the same setup with higher intensity, I:E: 10 min warm up level 2 30 seconds full out level 6 then 1min at level 2, this could be a way to progress after a certain number of weeks doing the same thing.

Then use the repeat and cool down process you mentioned in your post.

wife swears by interval training. Combined with the proper diet she claims to drop body fat much (quicker than normal) with intervals.

Alternating the intensity of your cardiovascular exercise sessions is a splendid idea. An effective way to do this while walking is to walk as fast as you can for a few minutes then walk at a somewhat slower pace for a while then repeat.
