Do you think it's worth the deprivation?

Change the Cheese.
Use low fat no regular. It's got potentially more protein, but also less bad fat and more good fat.
So then you change the calories, not necessarily the amount, but you take something and make it more beneficial.

One other option to cheese would be a few slices of avocado. It is a healthy fat that is completely natural and unprocessed. I use it alot instead of sliced cheese.

Re: Is it worth the deprivation?
well....with the avocado it adds only 10 calories and 2 fat grams - but you lose 2 grams of saturated fat (that's a +) there is a bit less cholesterol. 100 mg less sodium. So I think it is worth a try. I think the avocado adds more flavor to a sandwich than cheese. Subway doesn't offer a low fat cheese substitute. And the avocado they serve is basically guacamole - so i don't know exactly what's in it. I wish they just had avocado slices.
You could lose the pickles and replace with green bell pepper to lessen the sodium.Spinach leaves are have more nutrition than plain lettuce. Just a few suggestions.
