Ground Turkey Recipes

Postby feelin-great » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:54 pm

I bought ground turkey a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out what to make with it so I threw it in the freezer. Does anyone have any good recipes for ground turkey?

Use it just like you would hamburger. Make turkey burgers & top with some grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms. Add a slice of mozzarella or feta cheese crumbles & avocado slices -okay now I'm hungry  . Pair if with a steamed sweet potato - yum!!!

I haven't had much luck with burgers - they don't stay together! What's the trick? I also haven't mastered how to season them - but avacado would definitely help, I will have to try that!

Just look for ground beef recipes and substitute with ground turkey; that's the easy way to make recipes healthy with turkey ... well, at least healthier. The main issue with ground turkey is that the texture of the meat can become dry when cooked; that's why I love turkey meatballs as a substitute for beef in soups, dumplings, and any recipe that will have sauce. Another quick tip, if you ever overcook a ground turkey patty brush it with some olive oil and black pepper.
