Mass building supplements tend to be higher in carbs and sugars which will fatten you up (mass building). The other is like a diet pill and will dehydrate you. Forget them both. Just use whey as it gives you the protein you require for muscle repair and growth from working out. Take it immediately after your workout. That is the only time you really need it. The rest of the day should be solid foods with solid protein each meal. I suggest you go to the diet and nutrition forum and read the "stickies" there to help with your understanding of a good diet - it can't hurt to read it, can it?

Its your body, keep it real!

What does the label call a serving? That is what I would recommend. By the sounds of it, just the one scoop is what you need. Two is just adding calories that won't be used really in the way you want. Try instead having a salad about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes after your shake to supply healthy vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates with an olive oil and viniger dressing as a healthy topping, you can add some nuts or seeds also.

If you feel you need more suppliments, I would recommend a daily vitamin and a fish oil supliment for the omega 3s, 6s, and 9s which will help with protein breakdown and utilization within the body. Even better would be to include fish in your diet 2-3 times a week. Those high in omega fatty acids.

Use 1 serving. Most are 1 scoop. I have a baby scoop, so my serving sizes are 2.

Protein intake also depends on your size and intensity. I would say that you should get as much from whole foods as you can, but taking extra post w/o probably isn't going to hurt. Most servings are around 20g.

Protein shakes vary. Some are around 20g per scoop, some are around 25g. Some maybe weight gainers could be more like 30 per scoop. Don't ever recall seeing one that high, but it may happen.

Plus if it's Carbed up, you might find the Carbs are aither

A: identical in amount to Protein.

B: Around 40-50% higher.

Realistically, you'd only need about 1-1.5 scoops, no more, especially if Carbed, so you will get a goodly amount of calories anyway. Two scoops or more would be for really massive guys, who might like consuming something like 50g+ Protein after workouts.

Not necessarily a worthy pursuit in the name of calories, but I don't doubt some would do it.
