Lynne i never say things well i don't think. When someone is down or asking for advice i don't feel that i say it right so in advance i apologize for that. :)

I think your legs look awesome! i actually have like you said in my journal a very simliar body type i think to you Lynne. When i am thinner, not now as obese person. :)

Some girls in college once called me popeye legs. It bothered me somewhat. Me and my sister has a simliar body type as well and she has always been very self conscious about it. So i definitely know where you are coming from.

It's one day at a time for me. I'm happy to be where I am physically, and know that I have to a ways to go to reach my goal - but I'm not trying to get there to please anybody else - just me. Some days are harder than others......this was one of those days. My 1/2 marathon is 2 weeks away and I'm stressing a little over it.

it's funny because negative statements really do stick in your mind! Why people like to say things insensitive comments i don't know. You are doing great physcially. You are staying on track and you are a beautiful example of a "almost 50 year old" Lynne. You are younger than your years. You are not giving yourself enough credit at all!!!! Honestly my mom could never have done what you do every day at 50 or even younger. You are exactly right this is your journey not meeting someone else's expectations of what they think a runner should look like! which is so annoying in itself.  Don't be down Lynne! Look at what you do you have which is not only a loving beautiful family, but a healthy mind and body!! You can't ask for more. :) :)

Like my mom is always telling me be the best that you can be but not some image of somone that doesn't even represent the essence of who you are! You are going to kill it at the half marathon in two weeks be PROUD of who you are Lynne and what you have accomplished and what your goals are for the future!! I'm proud to know you i know that. :)

Screw what people acting negatively think about your body, when you're putting in the effort to change it. It's your body ahnd you have to live with it, they don't .

They could be speaking from a standpoint of jealousy, or not wanting you to end up better looking or healthier than them. Whatever their reasons they can get stuffed, because you are doing a superb job to keep on top of your physical situation, especially when age is also becoming more of a factor.

You will do great in your 1/2 Marathon, so don't sweat it and just keep believing.

I am really, really proud of you for everything you have been doing and you should be proud of yourself too.

You guys are great. Thanks for the positive support. :D

I've been sidelined since Monday with my injuries. The foot pain from last tuesdays RIPPED workout escalated after I ran Monday, so bad that I guess I overcompensated and injured the left hip joint. So now I'm forced to take the rest of the week off. :x which is driving me crazy cause I'm freakin' out over my 1/2 marathon in less than 2 weeks!
Good news is that they are both much better.
The hardest thing for me to do is to not run when I feel like I can. But I know that just because they feel better does not mean they are totally healed - so I'm sidelined until at least Saturday. I may try the elliptical on Saturday.

I have found two products that I am currently in love with.
Image
The almond butter's ingredients are almonds and salt - that's it. And the peanut butter's ingredients is peanuts - that's it! Love them both! And the good thing is I found them at my local grocery. The almond butter is pretty pricey at just over $4.00 but I have been wanting to try it for a long time - just didn't want all the other ingredients like palm oil, evaporated cane sugar, etc that the others had. This is the first one I saw with just almonds and salt.
The peanut butter is unsalted - and it is fantastic. Tastes just like peanuts - no preservatives, no salt, no added sugar.
They have to be refrigerated.
Made my son a Almond butter spread sandwich - he loved it!

So I take it you just ate them then, you didn't try to use them as a topical pain relief

 Bossman! Hadn't thought of that. Maybe I should spread some on the top of my foot - if it doesn't help the pain, at least I have a snack for later.... :P

Good job you don't own a Dog, or the foot would be the snack and your running days would be over :P.

Today's workout:

3 mile easy run.

Just tried it out - see how my foot and hip felt. Good news, hip did not hurt. Foot still in a bit of pain, but I can handle one thing hurting, just not two. :)
My son took a "before" pic of me 7 months ago and took another one today to see what change if any I have made. Happy to see some weight loss and inches gone.

Legs look more trim I think, and my hips and waist. Long way to go still, but steadily chipping away.

Nice pics, Lynne! You look much more lean and mean in the second pic. I think all of the strength training you're doing is going to make a huge difference over the next few weeks as well - so you can expect to just keep getting leaner and meaner :) Make sure your son keeps taking photos, so you can document the results of all your hard work.

Happy Easter!

Thanks guys!! You are all awesome!

Monday's workout:
2 miles elliptical / 2 miles indoor track
No foot pain, and just a little soreness in the hip - but not bad :D
2 x 12 bench press 80lbs.
2 x 15 ab crunch (machine)
1 x 30 / 1 x 20 incline crunches
60 pushups (broken up into 3 sets of 20 at different times during the day)
1 pullup  from hanging dead weight - almost made it to the top! Last week I couldn't go but halfway.
My husband built a pull up bar in the backyard. Have to jump to reach the bar, then pull up from hanging stance. Alot harder than I remember them being when I was a kid! But I am determined to slowly but surely work my way up to doing 5...then 10...and on.
I also bought some of those straps so I can put my arms in them and do leg raises. :D

Tuesday's workout:
Speedwork at track
warmup then three 400 meter repeats
1st: 2:16
2nd: 2:06
3rd: 2:04
pretty happy with those times, given I wasn't pushing all out, being careful with my foot and hip

4 days til the 1/2 marathon!!!!

Yes it is. I love it but I'm gonna have to wear my weight gloves, it is hard on my hands. :?

We have a peach tree in our yard that is really producing some wonderful peaches. I made a peach salsa today that is awesome!
Image
Diced peaches
green apple
green bell pepper
tomato
onion
1/2 avocado
cilantro
tsp. lemon juice

These were just some things I had in the fridge. Recipe called for pears, I subbed green apple. It called for red bell pepper but i didn't have any. It also said to put 2 tsps sugar in it  I left that out. It called for white wine vinegar - didnt have any of that so I put lemon juice. Turned out really good!

Going to make some baked tilapia tonight and top with the salsa. Yum!!!

Lu, you kill me!! You are so funny - and you are NOT overdone by any means. You were my role model and inspiration when I first came on here so I am honored if I can be any kind of inspiration to you now.
Hang in there Lu, you are a fighter, you know this. You have so much strength inside of you and you are so giving to others...it's time to give a little to YOU. I have absolutely NO doubt that you can and will get back to where you were and beyond. You are such a powerful presence - it comes thru here on these forums, so dig deep, look inside, find that inner strength and block out all the outside influences life can throw at you. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Miss you and your fun, witty, and full of life posts. Take care, and check in more often!
