pretty much when you wake up. do 30 minutes of cardio before breakfast it gets the metabolism in full swing for the day.

Maybe he's referring to increased Heart rate, allowing for higher caloric burn.

Dude would still be better to eat before he jogs.

S'ok
Metabolic increase comes from 1. eating on a correct schedule and not underearting 2. from gaining muscle.
Caloric burn comes from activities such as jogging, lifting etc etc.
I know after a cardio session I get a nice buzz, that is the result of raising the heartbeat for an extended period of time. Not the same as firing up the furnace.

I agree, this method worked best for me when I was competing.
I still do my cardio this way now..

It does not increase the metabolism. Research shows that by doing cardio before breakfast a TINY bit more fat is burned that if someone ate breakfast. However, the person who does not eat before cardio is likely ot be hungriuer throughout the day and end up eating more, and their workout is likely to be of less quality. They are also at higher risk of injury. Also, it makes low blood sugar attacks more likely, even for people who don't frequently suffer from them.
