Christopheel,

Question for you on this.....

Bench Press Paused

190x5
200x5
230x5
240x1
305x1 +5lbs PR, form and speed was better than usually when hitting PR
290x1x1x1x1x1

Why drop to 290 for the reps like this, why not add 30 to 45 secs on rest and leave it at 305 for those x1x1x1x1x1 ?

Heavy weight for heavy gain right? (not that 290 isn't heavy lol, you're working weights I'm about 3 to 6 months bare minimum of hitting, lol maybe even a year!)

Just to me, if you can do 305 once, keep doing it for 4 to 5 times for single rep sets. Like going back to beginners with 10 sets of a single pull up will give you better gains than 5-10 assisted pull ups. Just a thought for you to chew up.

Cheers mate!

Diana,

I would LOVE to hit 600 on dead,
450 on squat
and 350 on Bench

This is my goal. Witch would make a nice total of 636KGs

Vamp,

When I hit my one rep max I can't do it another time. Even with one hour rest. This is why I reduce to 90% of max

Cool man, that's why I asked cause I didn't know! I like your goal of 350 lbs, mine is 3 sets at 250 lbs for 5 reps each for my 35th B-Day (March 09). Currently I can do 185, 195, 205 for 10 in each set then 215 for 6 plus a forced rep. Got a bit to go but figure its a good goal. I don't try for max outs right now, I'm trying to focus on my working loads instead and building up the muscle mass.

Cheers!

That would make a sweet total.
Malinda is going for 1100 at the worlds (5 weeks away).
Vamp, forced reps are a no-no in PL.

Hey Diana, I'm just weight lifting for muscle strength and growth not actual power lifting. So, occassional forced reps are actually good for a stress on the muscle, I know you know this. I'd guess i'm a body builder (lol). As of right now I have no desire for competition.

HEHE, I might have to go against Christopheel, and that guy is a monstar, no thanks ;)

Cheers

chris does 90% because i told him too he, he

but really the more singles you can get at 90% and over the better but at the same time you need to keep the nervous system fresh so doing pb's ovewr and over woill burn you out in no time...this is why forced reps are ordinary too...vamp if you cut your warm up sets down to say 3 rep sets then you'd do 10pds more on your heavy set of 6 easily

1100??? i just shit myself.....not that i'm a PLér but jeez i couldn't be more than 750 for all 3 combined i'd reckon...agh well i'll get there...actually i probably won't

Forced Reps. Never really though that much of them. If you can't do the extra reps, don't make your body do it, it's your bodies way of saying "not now" or "not ever". Don't try to argue with your body by doing forced reps, because your body knows best

Hey Chris,
I just heard back from M.Levesque, and he is scheduling a small qualifier in Levis for October, it has been confirmed. Are you going to come and cheer us on, we are a 3 girl lifting team.
Otherwise, I'll see you in November!

More womens in powerlifting are welcomed !

But I won't be there in October, it has taken everything to have a break (from all my 3 jobs) to participate in november.

So I will come and own the place in november only (ahah arrogant here ! )

Hum little update,

More ready than ever for the provincial, on 16 november.

Weight as increase a lot during the past week,

172lbs to 180, 1 lbs to break my weight class, bf% at the eye seems to have increase a little but still lower than what it was before my fat lost.

Gym PR at the moment,

590 on deadlift, (My forever loved lift)
397 on squat (yes 2 pounds pr ...)
315 on bench, gotta love 3 plates instead of 2 and a millions little ones.

So I must make myself an idea, I can't hit 450 on squat and I can't hit 350 on bench in a week of training, 600 on deadlift would be a good accomplishment.

I must say that my progression is much more slower than it was ... I will have to make myself and even more structured/effective workout plan or make myself the idea that I can't always hit 5 pounds pr every weeks as I used to do ? Still I have made a lot of progress and I am REALLY happy so far.

It's weird I don't understand how you can deadlift so much more than you can squat...my grip doesn't allow me to deadlift more otherwise I'm sure I would be up there also but not as high as you...although my squat is looking close :D
