Lu, I love your story about your boy choosing the shoes he didn't like, just to keep from letting down the salesperson! What a compassionate and caring young man...hmmm...wonder where he learned that!
Yes, while I am fortunate to have the home equipment, it is VERY hard to motivate myself to use it. When I first started using them there were usually at least 5 interruptions from either my husband or son, with some problem that just could not possibly wait 30 minutes! Sometimes it seemed no one needed me UNTIL I stepped on that treadmill. Then I had a family meeting and told them that I really needed that workout time, with no interruptions, and I would be a much happier camper, which in turn would make their life alot better too, because as we all know...if Momma's not happy...then NO ONE will be happy!!
So I said, UNLESS you are cut open, bleeding (really bad, like stitches bleeding) or your arm is hanging by a thread, or maybe if the house is burning down, then do not interrupt me while I'm working out! Life has been much better since then
Okay, now down to business:
Did my HIIT on the treadmill this morning. Tried it Swanso's way (it's in his post "Read before posting to save me and you alot of time" in the Diet & Nutrition forum (fascinating and informative reading).
5 min. warmup at 5.0 mph
1 min @ 8.0 mph / 2 min. @ 6.0 mph (repeat 4 times)
1 min @ 8.0 mph / 2 min. @ 4.0 mph / 2 min. 8.0 mph
Cool down 6 minutes @ 3.0 mph
Didn't have time to do the 20 minutes of steady slower running, hopefully next time. I liked it, and felt like I could do several more sets, just didn't get an earlier enough start.
Now, I'm really not trying to get depressed, but I did not lose any weight this week, or inches. I am exactly the same as last Friday. It is very crushing to work so hard and not see any change. So, if I break it down I think it has to do with diet, since I am exercising alot and often. I am not eating badly, or over eating, if anything I am not eating enough according to the daily calories I am supposed to be getting. I usually range from 1500 to 1800 calories a day.
I guess I could start working out twice a day, with running in the a.m. and weights in the p.m. or vice versa....I don't know what to do....any body got any suggestions?
