Arnold press ?

Postby Zappafrk_65 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:46 am

What is this move actually working ? Is it targeting more then the shoulders ? It would seem like it is working the upper chest too...

My understanding is that it forces you to work for the full range of motion. It is not unusual to clip the ends of the motion at the bottom of the lift. This technique forces you to work that area too.

Full range of motion is an important concept to learn in lifting. All your lifts, with very few exceptions, should be worked for the full range of motion.

I have never used this press motion; I think I will try it on my next workout.

Pressing movements work the Triceps o osome extent.

Arnolds, are not one I've used either, but I'm sure they tend to have some exertion on the Upper Pectorals, Deltoids and Trapezius muscles.

it combines more movements of the shoulder joint is all - pushing up, pushing back - to try and get all 3 major heads of the delts...the regular sort are way better, you'll use more wt, plenty more wt and that means more muscle

I work my shoulders on Mondays. Do you think I should move them to Fridays?

Depends on how he does a split.

If Monday was his last split day, and he didn't start his split until 2-3 days later, then yes. Keep them there.

If It's the first split day, then no move it. Never train small muscles before big ones on a split. You need the Stabilisers and Synergists fresh, for helping you on big muscle workouts. Fatiguing them, then expecting them to perform to 100% standard, on a big muscle workout, 24 hours, possibly 48 hours later, could slightly impede workouts involving Torso muscles.

What the flip is this faceplam thing? I know what facepalm is, but what is the reasoning in that occasion, or am I just missing something obvious.

I'm so going to get fired from my job. I'm sitting here just totally cracking up!

Boss.... Les was joking about doing shoulders only on Fridays.. she was being funny... and you posted a very informative answer about when doing shoulders on Friday would be appropriate and when it wouldn't... basically she was beign sarcastic and didn't actually mean that you always have to do shoulders on Friday... hence the faceplam.

For some reason this thread really cracks me up.

Yes, I thought the reason why I didn't get it, wasn't because it was an American thing, it was because it was a me thing .

Nah. It was all my fault. I started it when I wrote, "I work my shoulders on Mondays. Do you think I should move them to Fridays?"

Which was meant to be a joke. Les jumped on that and then all hell broke loose.

I will temper my comments in the future (don't pay attention to that last comment; I don't "temper" in public).

Hell no. Don't temper anything you say. If that happened the whole forum might cave in .

Compare that with what might happen to Earth, if the Moon shot off course and never came back. Same kind of effect :P .

Well personally I'll have to concure with the Aussie, Monday is international bench press day. Its the only way to start the week out right :?: I thought everone knew that! Shoulders are fridays so you can skip them so you can have a nap before you go out and party at night because we all know they really aren't that important in the scheme of things. roflmao.
