might be a slight case of shin splints. Is the seawall surface you run on asphalt or concrete? Concrete is really hard on the joints, knees, shins, hips, everything.

Its mostly concrete, bricks, rock slabs etc, some parts are asphalt but not where I run really.

Oh Bonnie - so sorry about the shin splints, or at least that's what it sounds like. :( I'm still nursing my left leg/knee....really puts a damper on your workouts - but take it easy a bit to heal and stay positive! You've come a long way! :):)

I tried adding some potato into a meal, they taste gross now, rice doesn't appeal to me either.BREAD on the other hand, gosh I can eat that toasted & dry with eggs & it STILL tastes yummy.Though I think I' ll leave my diet alone, here & there I might use rice or potato, but not daily.Oatmeal will always stay.I worked to hard to lose the approximately 10 lbs since april 16th, to risk putting it back on, so unless I'm going underweight or lacking nutrition of some sort, no thanks.

Potato is nice, but on it's own it can have limited flavour. Something like Butter or some other kind of spread or oil could enhance the taste, as might Low Fat cheese.

On your potato ?..I had a pile of beans next to the potato, usually is broccoli though, think I eat a 1/2 to a pound of broccoli a day  Yeah butter or cheese would of made them taste better, though I was trying to avoid adding fat on top of starch.Did buy a yam, so will try & add that in somewhere over the next week.

Well, I decided to not do sprints & 6 mins into a easy jog, the groin made it so I had to stop.Today will be switched with thursday, which is usually a day off.Back to the elliptical trainer & the cardio queens.I personally don't feel the elliptical at any level burns off fat as running does, which is WHY I started the running, well that & its nice outside.I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed & tired of all these injuries.I am going to have this knee checked out & the shin thing, though I'm already surmising the knee is somehow torn & will need to live with it the way it is & adjust, like I did with my shoulder.I wish at least I had my own elliptical trainer at home.

I am thinking of switching to eliptical on my strength training day. The one time I got on it I hated it. But, I need to have one workout day without the impact on my legs. Sorry to hear about the groin injury. Gee, what are cardio queens? A new workout machine?

LOL..no they are women who endlessly do cardio. I swear so they can hang out at the gym, socialize then justify eating bad food when they go home, saying to themselves, I've earned it.Annoying for those of us trying to get in an honest workout.Elliptical is ok, just not as much gratification as actually propelling yourself forward, though yes running seems to take a toll on the knees.

Was having roasted chicken last night, so tossed the yam in the oven too...ate half last night, half tonight, didn't need butter, they are tasty enough alone.I only lost not quite one pound this week, I attribute that to the amount of fat in the chicken flakes maybe ? Will look into white meat flakes, might be to expensive though. After the first course of fitness theory, there is a provincial exam to take before moving on to the " specialty course " which is weights, then onto personal trainer course..I will need to take a extended nutrition course after I've found a job & am making some money, the one I had my eyes on was $ 1400.00,so for now it will be basic nutrition only.Time to put leg weights up, hope to have the front squats in the triple digits also one day soon, step ups I doubt, they are hard enough already.Hope everyone had a nice day :)
