I was reading an article on knee pain and you came to mind. I don't remember what kind of knee pain you had. Runners Knee or I think illiobital band syndrome. But it was saying there are stretches you can do, as well as strengthing exercises.

Here's one website, http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_5/194.shtml although there are many more articles on knee pain and there is even, you tube videos on stuff like how to stretch if it is illiobital band syndrome. It might be something you can do before you venture outside that may help. Hope it helps!

Edgar - sorry, we got so much that I figured I would share the love :D

Two pieces of bad news - 1) I didn't get the job (well, technically I kind of did, they just wouldn't offer me enough and I can't afford a paycut) and 2) my elbows are really sore from shoveling :( Moving on, I'll get over both :D

I got another two hours of shoveling in today - I am counting it as my workout (it's actually about as tough as my videos anyway!). Good news, my lungs didn't hurt again this time so I may be ok to try running outside!!! :D

I'm doing great on food this weekend, although right now I am enjoying my second glass of wine - I am not typically a drinker, but I have had a busy, stressful day so I am letting myself enjoy it tonight. I weigh in tomorrow morning so I really shouldn't be, but oh well :oops: I darn well better lose weight this week after all of the shoveling I have done this weekend! My body is in a lot of pain. I have learned that I have to keep my elbows slightly bent while shoveling, they seem to be less prone to injury that way - too bad I realized it a little too late. I will just have to ice them and I am sure they will be fine in no time :)

Warm thoughts and palm trees are just what I need :D

I weighed myself this morning - I lost 2.2 pounds - yay :D

I am taking the day off from workouts. Every inch of me hurts from all of the shoveling I did this weekend.

Awww, thanks Lynne, I feel warmer already :D Maybe I will enlarge the picture and paste it up in all of my windows - that way when I look outside expecting to see snow, I will see nothin' but tropics :D

Today's menu:
Breakfast - I forgot to eat. Really, how does a person forget to eat??? Guess I was in a rush :mrgreen: Luckily I had a protein shake with me when I got to work so I had that
Snack - FF cottage cheese
Lunch - 1 slice Arnold whole wheat bread with TONS of deli turkey, a little FF mayo, 1 slice LF cheese / 1 cup carrots / 1 cup grapes (actually, just a few, they were really bad grapes)
Snack - 3 stalks of celery with 2 tbsp natural peanut butter / 2 lf string cheese
Dinner - frozen meal :oops: (salisbury steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes) Oh, how I hate having to leave the house for laundry, it takes soooo long before I can eat

Workout - 1/2 hour elliptical set at random (aka - pure hell). It was even tougher this time, don't know why I have to work at the top level for more than 1/2 of it!! But it was a great anger release for me - had a run-in with a co-worker today and was in tears at work - I pictured her laying on the floor while I ran over her :mrgreen:

I am having knee issues again. The same one. Yesterday I had the dogs outside and they were not behaving very well so I stomped my foot really hard on the ground - not a smart idea when it is 17 degrees below zero :shock: I seem to have really hurt it again. The elliptical didn't bother it, I will be interested to see how it feels when I do my DVDs.

That is such a bummer about the knee issue.. Glad it didn't hurt on the elliptical. Maybe that article is right that maybe really what you need to do is strenthen the surrounding muscle?? hopefully its not anythign more serious.

I will have to try random on the elliptical sometime, I think i don't push myself when i do the elliptical, it sounds like random is the way to go!!

Run in's with anyone is difficult. I hate conflict!! Glad you worked out your anger!! :)

Palms trees look real nice. 14 degrees in Maine. Double Yay on the weight-loss.

Today's menu:

Breakfast - Kashi cereal bar as I ran out the door, protein shake at work (i need to start allowing myself more time in the mornings - i think because I hate my job so much I just can't force myself up any early than necessary)
Snack - missed my morning snack because of a meeting
Lunch - still in meeting so had to eat a sub (turkey, TONS of lettuce, sprouts, tomatoes, light on the mayo)
Snack - 2 lf string cheese, 3 celery stalks with 2 tbsp pb
Dinner - grilled chicken, brown rice, steamed asparagus

Workout - part of Jillian Michaels Burn Fat Boost Metabolism DVD

Small problem (well, more than small) with the workout tonight. I have had this issue in the past but tonight was excruciating - my feet get so sore, mainly my right, that I can't continue. It starts during circuit 2 and escalates during circuit 3. The pain is so bad I can barely stand up. SO I thought I would take my shoes off and try it in my socks. I got almost through the 3rd circuit when both of my calves cramped up to the point that I fell over :shock: I slowed down and continued with circuit 4, but then I had to stand up again and couldn't do it. That's where I finally gave up. I have never felt such unbearable pain before. Would the cramps have been caused by not wearing my shoes? I sure hope that doesn't continue. I still got a decent workout in until I stopped, so it wasn't a complete loss.

I probably was trying to land softly because of no shoes - maybe that is why I cramped! I have a hard time doing it without shoes because I feel like I can't get a good grip - I guess I will keep trying. As for the shoes, it's not that (these are pretty knew, anyway). I have had this foot pain with every pair of shoes I have worn, old and new. It's only with that particular video, and only through the 2nd and 3rd circuits. Then it usually gets better. I love the workout I get from this DVD but I am ready to give up just because of the foot pain!

I did absolutely awful on food today :oops: I had taken a sandwich for lunch but my 3-year old nephew called me and begged me to have lunch with them at McDonalds - I have a hard time saying no when he begs so nicely :D I asked for a grilled chicken snack wrap - they gave me the crunchy chicken. I didn't have time to take it back so I just dealt with it. Then I had a hot fudge sunday :oops:

Then my nine year old nephew had his Christmas concert tonight so I ended up eating a piece of pizza and a slice of cream cheese danish for dinner.

And I didn't get a workout in because i just got home.

Tough day for food and exercise! Oh well, I have tomorrow afternoon off to wait for the washing machine repairman so I will have the rest of the afternoon for exercise :D

Today I found out that starting in 2011 my health insurance will reimburse me $200 each year if I join a gym :D :D :D I was all excited until I realized they don't pay you until AFTER you have paid for the membership - and the first payout date isn't until June. They pay twice a year, June and December. So I will have to see if I can find a way to scrounge up the money to join. It would really be worth it if they will be paying me $200 of it, it's just finding the money until then. So I guess I will have to get creative with my finances :D

That's great news. You defnitely don't need a gym to workout and get in shape but especially in the winter they do help with motivation and activities to do. :)

Yesterday I didn't get a workout in - I had to work overtime all morning and then I had my extended family Christmas party - I actually didn't do too bad for food. Not a normal healthy meal for me, but overall I was pretty happy with what I chose to eat. I did have a piece of pie though :oops:

Today I spent on my couch with a migraine :( It finally went away so I did manage to get a workout in - 40 minutes on the elliptical. I didn't want to do a video because I was afraid the jumping up and down would bring back my migraine. Then when I finished (it is at my sister's house) my sister had just finished making peanut butter star cookies, the kind with the chocolate stars smooshed in the top. Probably not the best way to finish a workout, but I guess I have heard that if you are going to eat bad food, after a workout is the best time :mrgreen: I should have just gone straight home and ignored the cookies.

Tomorrow morning I weigh for the week, I really wish I hadn't eaten those cookies :oops:

Good to know I'm not the only nutcase who has pain for hours, then once it abates, works out, love the devotion, keep it up :)
