No such luck relaxing  We got a snowstorm yesterday so that meant lots of shoveling

musculargirl wrote:Did you make it in for your first day of work with all the snow?? Hope it went well!

I did make it, it took FOREVER because the roads weren't plowed yet, but I made it. Go figure, my first day back at the job I have to drive to another town and we get a snowstorm  But the day went well, just orientation so far, tomorrow as well. Then back to the grind - I can't wait, it will feel good to be appreciated again!

Thanks, Boss, you're the best :D

So yesterday I ended up having to shovel for 1 1/2 hours - another snowstorm :( But it was a great workout! This was the heaviest snow I have ever shoveled   Then we got more overnight so I had to shovel again tonight - it was a lot less snow tonight, but it was even heavier than yesterday's!!! I guess there was a ton of moisture with this storm. Anyone who has ever shoveled 10 inches of snow and then the bottom of the driveway after the plows have been through (3 times  ) knows that shoveling is quite a workout!! I got some crazy ab work in with this storm :D

Diet today was terrible - I missed breakfast because it was my first day at my new old job and with the snow I had to leave really early. Then I didn't eat until lunch, where they served us turkey sandwiches (nasty turkey sandwiches) with potato chips and soda - it was in orientation so I had no control over what I got. So no snacks or anything today. I am going to be more prepared tomorrow, though.

Wonders why people would expect rapt attention during an orientation when they poison the candidates with chips & pop ?...gross.Good for you though, If I had gone from the night before to lunch time without food, no one would be happy.I still recall even in fitness school I heard, we don't really have time to eat...like HUH ? Is that a joke ? Of ALL people they should know the importance of stable blood sugar...sigh.

Don't have time to eat? This type of response might work. "If you've got time to make ludicrous statements about having no time to eat, then you've got time to eat, simply by not wasting time on ludicrous statements that you could be using to eat instead."

:P

If someone complains about how the time it took them to say what they did, wouldn't be enough time to eat, you could say, "that's enough time to have a mouthful of Fruit, like say some Apple, because the time you spent immediately after making your statement, didn't include using your mouth again, so it could have been put to some use chewing the mouthful of Apple.

If you are any good at multi-tasking, chewing and making physical gestures, shouldn't be hard should it?"

The craziest part about it was that they kept a cooler at the back of the room filled with soda (and water, thank goodness!) and next to it a big pot of coffee. They called it our "fuel." We were more than welcome to get up during any point of the presentations and help ourselves to the "fuel." Today I was shocked at a statement made by someone in HR - I won't go into details about why it was brought up, but they were talking about keeping the vending machines stocked - she stated that we "need" the vending machines because if people aren't refueling on their breaks they will crash on their production lines. I so badly wanted to say that by filling them full of that crap they would be more likely to crash!

Where I work, is a basically mental health building, with workers from housing, environmental etc offices.Yet I sit in the second floor kitchen, eating my meals, staring directly AT bags of lays, nibs, chocolate bars & bags of salt laden nuts..my boss said these are foods in case " they can't get out of the office ".Frightening.

Well if you're eating a lot of Salty Nuts, get high Blood pressure from the Salt, then suffer a Coronary, the only way(s) you'd probably be "getting out " of the building, would be in an Ambulance or a body bag  .

Hey everyone, I did disappear for a while - I have been so busy since starting my new job and then some family issues that I have had to help out with in the evenings. Plus I am nursing a back injury for a couple of weeks :( So needless to say I haven't been working out - instead I have been gaining weight :x I think things should be calming down in the next few days so I can't wait to catch up on everybody's journals!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new job!!!! I definitely made the right decision :D No China in the near future as I have a ton of learning to do first, but I think it will be within the first year so I can't wait for that!

Hope everybody is doing great and I will catch up with all of you soon :D

Gross Boss. Do the chinese really eat dog? I thought they did in Vietnam too. Do they still have dogs as pets in those countries?? I don't like to think about stuff like that.

LOL funny yet gross at that the same time. I'm not a vegetarian but I only eat eggs on a regular basis right now, I wouldn't eat at that restaurant i can tell you that. :P

The Chinese still eat dog. Many years ago, when meat was scarece Dog was considered a necessary form of meat. In later years this no longer needed to be the case, but the tradition never faded away, nor was it outlawed and you can actually find restuarants that will still serve it.

Howevr many people keep them as pets in China, to the point where they go overboard, you know dying them pink, spraying thme, making them wear stupid clothes and makeup.

Talk about one extreme to another.

Makes the French look tame by comparison.
