Or you might just tell them that you want to join now but will be out of town for that week and maybe they will discount you the price. My gym did that for me. :)

Oh, great idea, I hadn't thought of that - I think I will give that a try! Thanks :D

I spent all of yesterday shoveling mud and carrying it out of my parent's basement  We got 4 inches of rain in less than one hour on Saturday night and a portion of their foundation crumbled in. The flash flood came down the hill behind their house so much that it actually carried the sandbox several feet until it ran into the swingset - if that hadn't been there it probably would have floated down the street! The ENTIRE basement was flooded and covered in mud.

I also carried everything out (somehow my sister and I did all of the heavy lifting while my dad and brother-in-law wet vacuumed the floors, go figure!). I hurt today in places I didn't know I could hurt

It just blows my mind at how much damage there was and if there was this much damage caused by a flash flood, I can't even begin to imagine the devastation from the tornadoes and floods that have been taking place over the country the last couple of months. My heart goes out to all of the people who have suffered from these natural disasters :(

After reading this, a little cloudy weather up here is nothing to gripe about. Thanks for the reality check :) Hope things clear up for you down there.

I joined the Y last night. I am not actually active until July since I am going to be gone the rest of this month. But I wanted to get it over with so I didn't have an excuse when I get back not to join :D

I get back from vacation on the 3rd, but it will be really late, and then they will be closed on the 4th for the holiday. So I will officially start going to the gym on the 5th. I am looking forward to it!

Come on now you know you would concur, I mean would you have disagreed?

It's one of thse obvious generic things though isn't it. I'm going away for the weekend / the week / two weeks, "oh have fun", because nobody would say something like "I hope you have a sucky time."

It's like "are you going anywhere nice", or "did you go anywhere nice", as if someone would say, "yes I went camping next to a Sewage Works and lived off a diet of cold soup for two weeks", or something equally baffling :P :P.

Nah, you know what I mean.

People asking such questions just sounds a bit silly. Are you going anywhere nice for your holidays?

No I'm going to camp out for two weeks next a power station and just eat cheese.

I'm back but I am not 100% here yet :D We had too good of a time to come home! So I am home in body but not in mind  I will have to post a picture of the buffalo (or as my 2 year old nephew says - fuffawo  ). They would roam into our campground several times a day and we would be just a few feet away - they are kinda scary  Our trip started and ended with a bang - as we were leaving, my sister got bit by her neighbor's dog (keep in mind my sister can be a bit dingy and she pretty much ran over there, startling the dog). Then halfway home we were planning on stopping to see a waterfall and my brother-in-law ran out of gas 1 mile before the exit    It just occurred to me that those two are married, go figure

Anyway, as much as I don't want to be home, I am relieved to be eating healthy again! I feel like all I ate all week was crap. I forgot to weigh myself this morning (or maybe my subconscious just didn't want to see the number on the scale :| ). I went to the gym after work and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. I wanted to do some weights but I haven't gone through the orientation to learn anything yet. And I have to be honest - that area is extremely intimidating! It is all big buff guys there, and there is no women't weights area :( I am going to do the orientation this weekend where they show me how to use everything and get me started on a program. Until then I will probably just focus on cardio. And even after they show me stuff, I am still not sure if I will be comfortable using it

Screw the guys. They'll probably leave you alone if you leave them alone. If they act like dicks and giving it all the "stick to cardio machines darlin' and "this aint no place for a women to train" mullarkey, just report them, or ignore it.

You've as much right to train there as a guy, it's not something where members who have been going longer have more rights, or there's some sort of pecking order, so don't worry about it :).

Weights are intimidating alone not to mention if there just buff guys in there. Hopefully you like the program they recommend!
