I don't play basketball for a team, but we play at the park alot.

For the past few weeks, I've been working on my leg strength, just so I can get more power out of my jump. Right now I can hang on the rim, but I really want to be able to dunk it.

So what I do, is lay on my pack, with 20lb ankle weights on each foot, and just raise them up and down, and then the bridge with them. Noticing some improvment.

And it works out the ab's very well.

If your interested in building up your hops, try this vertical jump program. My coach gave it to me to do and now I can throw down heaps of dunks and to prove I aint talking shit here is a video I made last year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns5Z3WY0kho

And this is the link for the vertical jump program, it really does help...

far too much volume...no plyo session should exceed 40 jumps in any 1 session...it's quality over quantity...you look pretty tall too so you should be able to dunk like that...if i was that tall with my 34" leap i'd be touching higher than the box...ohh that would be good

if your on a team, then your coach will probably let you know when you should start weight training or w/e..otherwise go & ask him yourself..he'd be the best person to ask right now in your situation..good lucc..

Check my signature. Vertical Jump Bible is the 1# Vertical jump program on the market right now.

Here is some other advice i would like to share. If you are serious about maxmizing your ability in basketball. Here are a few simple drills that i used to do when i played ball in College.

1. During the summer take 500 + Jump shots a day. I know it sounds like a lot ,but this is a workout that Michael Jordan used to do. When your shooting oyur jumpers make sure to shoot from all angles on the court. 10 footers ,15 footers ,bankshots ,20 feet and out.

2. Practice dribbling full court by yourself with your left hand for 30 minutes straight ,then switch to the right hand for another 30 minutes. Then finish off with cross over dribbling for another 30 minutes.

I have a few more tips i could offer. Just ask me.

do you think i could do them all at once or at least combine two of them together? because it seems logical that i could do both the sprinting workout and the jump one at the same time but i doubt i would get teh same results from the sprinting and the jumping ones if i also do the muscle program is this true?

it's always best to do the program as written...if it would be better to combine the two, wouldn't you think Kel would write it like that? choose which one you want more and do that first...for your age i would go speed
