I know this is against getting fit properly but I am in dire need of some help here. I am in the military and have to take my physical fitness assessment next week. I'm not in horrible shape but I have a beer gut. If my waist is over 39'' I automatically fail even though I will be able to score a 90/100 on all of the other components. They measure from the top of the hip bone which is very subjective depending on who is measuring you and how much they feel like poking at your side to find the right place. I just finished doing some measurements and I am hovering anywhere between 39 and 40 1/2 depending on where exactly I am measured. This is an auto failure. I really need some advice on what to do over tomorrow and the weekend to make sure I don't put on a single millimeter more and hopefully reduce the measurement a bit. When I asked random people they told me to take laxitives the night before and to try and sweat weight out. The problem with this is that it will dehydrate me and I am supposed to do a mile and a half run, pushups, and situps after they tape my waist. I can't afford to mess up my run potential. The only thing I can think of so far is to stay away from heavy foods this weekend, drink a lot of water leading up to the test but none on the actual morning of. Is this smart? Am I going to insta fail? Thanks for reading all of this and thanks for your help.
tl;dr: I have a military PT test in 5 days, even though I'm in ok shape I have a beer gut and need to lose 1 inch so I don't insta fail the test. What steps can I take this weekend to lose an inch without causing damage my run time?
