Postby tagid » Tue Jan 16, 2007 5:26 pm

What foodstuff provides the greatest amount of protein with the fewest number of calories? Would it be whey?

Thanks...

don't even know what soy beans are but i'm presuming to get 30g of protein you'd need to eat a bucket full of them

any lean meat it perfect...if it has no fat on it then it's only protein cal's as there aren't any carbs in meat...only what you put on it or have with it

fish, chicken, red meat etc

Soy Beans I think are where Soy Protein comes from, and also the Bean Curd that makes Tofu.

I'm not 100% sure about that though.

I saw a list of Protein concentrates once, and I think it was Soybeans 33%, Hemp 25%, and then Beef I think next at 18% Protein.

Even the leanest chicken breast has a small amount of fat.

Soy beans have some carbs and fat in them, so they are not the lowest calorie protein rich food.
Carbs have 4 calories per gram
Protein has 4 calories per gram
Fat has 9 calories per gram

So the lowest calorie protein rich food would be one with little to no carbs or fat. Lean meat is probably your best bet. Egg whites, 99% fat free meat.

Indeed. Though Soybeans are the most concentrated source, Egg Whites will almost certainly be the lowest, as you say :).
