Health Psychologists - Behavioral Medicine & Motivation
- Dr. Bret Emery
Dr.
Bret Emery entered the field of Behavioral Medicine with an athletic
background and a specialty in physical conditioning. Beginning his
cycling career at the age of 14, he went on to live at the Olympic
Training Center and represent the United States in international
races across America and Europe. For over a decade, Dr. Emery excelled
at cycling. After retiring from professional cycling in 1991, Dr.
Emery focused his energy toward assisting others in their physical
conditioning endeavors.
Dr. Emery began by addressing the training, nutritional, hormonal
and motivational aspects of Atlanta Braves baseball players, professional
golfers, members of Lance Armstrongs U.S. Cycling Team, and
the NHL Florida Panthers hockey team. He then turned his focus towards
assisting individuals in South Florida at his custom designed private
training facility. Signing a partnership with Microsoft corporation,
Dr. Emery began providing weight management services to the employees
and spouses working for the software company. In 2006, Dr. Emery
expanded the Corporation to Alpharetta, Georgia, where he continues
to advance the science of physical conditioning and weight reduction.
He currently resides in Georgia with his wife and daughter.
Dr. Emery's dedication and passion are evident in his work with
his wife, Natalie. Natalie suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury,
which doctors believed would leave her paralyzed from the waist
down. Dr. Emery met Natalie in graduate school and was immediately
intrigued by her drive and intense motivation to rebuild her body
and become strong again. Together, they set out to achieve the first
of many goals. Dr. Emery designed specific exercise and nutrition
plans for Natalie and assisted her with every step toward rebuilding
her body.
During this process, Dr. Emery realized the need for a way to accurately
and objectively measure Natalies progress. Muscular development
and body fat reduction were paramount. Through research focused
on methods of measuring muscle and fat tissue, he developed the
Physio-Graph system of body composition measurement.
The
Physio-Graph provides instant feedback about how the human body
is changing before the changes are evident in the mirror - demonstrating
the immediate results of exercise and nutritional efforts. The Physio-Graph
provided the feedback necessary for Natalie to build lean muscle
in her arms and remove body fat from her legs.
With each passing year, Natalie has continued to develop strength
while improving her physique. She once again enjoys many physical
activities. Natalie is a walking example of Dr. Emerys expertise.
She is sought after for public speaking engagements and has been
featured in many publications.
Dr. Emerys expertise is also apparent in his work with individuals
who wish to build a strong and fit physique. He is able to accurately
measure a persons current physical composition and create
a specific approach to exercise and nutrition that will change the
persons body composition. Whether you are interested in reducing
your overall weight, or you would like to shape and tone a particular
area of your body Dr. Emery has the program that is right for you.
One popular program for men is the Chest
Reconstruction Program that transforms the muscle to fat ratio
of the chest and abdomen. The entire process, from the Physio-Graph
measurement to the nutrition and exercise design, progress tracking,
and goal achievement will be performed in one location, at Emery
Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Emerys Philosophy
As a doctor specializing in health related issues, it is imperative
for him to demonstrate competence by having a healthy and fit body.
The fact that people seek health and physical conditioning advice
from professionals who do not possess the ability to
transform their own bodies amazes him. I certainly would not
take my car to a person who was not able to fix their own car, so
why would I trust my health or physical conditioning goals to a
person who does not appear to have control over his or her own body?
