Muscle Building Questions - Pre Workout and Post Workout Meals

fitness-advice Question:
I have a diet based inquiry after my morning weight training, I eat my breakfast within 30 mins to an hour. I usually eat 4 egg whites scrambled, 1 bowl of fruit, I slice of brown bread, 4 tbl sp of sprouts and If I can a few sausages or a little chicken. My other meal are light throughout the day. Is this breakfast of mine fine, I've been working out for about 1.5 years now. Should I add more egg whites to it or something. Are there any addictions or reductions that I should make? Since its my main meal, I want it to be a mass gainer for me, just this one meal.

fitness-advice Answer:
Make sure to eat before your workout also! You should eat some starchy carbs with protein. A perfect pre-workout meal is a bowl of oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder. Mix them up with some water and microwave for about 30-40 seconds.

For a post workout meal, your best option is to eat a liquid meal. Try an MRP (meal replacement powder) like metrx or myoplex. These are great because they get quality protein and carbs in your body quickly to re-fill your glycogen levels and supply the fuel for your muscles. When you eat a solid food meal, your body has to digest it and this is not the optimal route when you need the nutrients quick.

If you really need to stick with a solid food meal post workout, your current plan looks fine. I would recommend removing the sausage since its very high in fat. Make sure to get at least 35 grams of protein for the meal.
