Muscle Building Questions - Are Weight Gainers Supplements Harmful?

I would like to know if using muscle weight gainers is harmful?

fitness-advice Answer:
The main issue with weight gainers is the high level of "empty calories" they contain. Most weight gainers have extremely high levels of refined sugars which cause massive spikes in your insulin levels and will make you gain unwanted body fat versus lean muscle tissue. I recommend focusing on real "nutrient dense" food consisting of lean proteins and whole grains. Increase your meals to at least 5 per day and keep your caloric levels high. You will gain solid muscle mass this way and will save money on high sugar weight gainer products.
