have been a certified personal trainer and fitness writer for 15
years. I have studied fitness and exercise at many meetings and
conferences and integrated that knowledge with what I learned from
working with my clients. My current interest is in helping people
find ways to become more active in their daily lives. I promote
and teach fitness walking programs and traditional weight training-efficient
approaches to achieving fitness that have worked for 200 years.
I have published articles in print media and online and have answered
over 1000 fitness questions at various web sites. My book, How to
Get Fit and Healthy through Weight Training, is available at Amazon,

Telephone and Internet Coaching
How does it work?
The center of your program is a 20 minute weekly phone call where
I answer your questions, evaluate your progress, help you set goals,
and advise you how to fine tune your exercise program. This is personal
advice, to suit your needs, not an off-the-shelf program. Before
the call, you e-mail me a report of your exercise and physical activity
for the week, so I can look at that before our telephone call. You
can also e-mail me short questions about your exercise program during
the week. The e-mails are informal--no time-consuming forms to fill
out.
The cost is only $97 a month, with monthly renewals at your
option. You can work out at home or at a gym or health club. I will
recommend some low cost, optional materials, and you can use free
resources at ShapeFit, healthandfitness.com, or government sources
I will recommend. You do pay for the phone call. Contact me for

Why would you want to do this?
- You are a beginning exerciser and are not sure what you should
be doing.
- You are an experienced exerciser who has hit a plateau.
- You don't want to, can't afford, or don't have the time to work
one-on-one with a personal trainer, but still need exercise guidance
and motivation.
- You want to become more active without doing formal exercise.
This program is not for you if you are a competitive athlete or
aspiring bodybuilder. It probably isn't for you if you have a serious
injury or a medical condition that limits your ability to exercise,
unless your doctor recommends such a program. Note that I can give
you sound information about nutrition and dieting that will enable
you to lose weight and eat healthy, but I cannot design a diet for
you. That is the job of a registered dietician.
