I began gaining weight and was unhappy about it for the next twenty years, until I began losing weight!

I looked under every rock for a way to still eat what I wanted and lose weight. There was none. I faced the reality that I had to change what I was eating.

Saying "no" to excuses. I still have a hard time talking myself out of the bad choices.

I began seeing a dietitian and making that commitment forced me to change my behavior.

I lost about 40 pounds the first year, the rest have been in very small, slow but manageable increments over the next 2 years.
