Cholanta’s Weight Loss Story!
When did you become unhappy with your weight?
In January of 2003, I looked at myself in the mirror and for the first time I saw a fat person and I did not like the way I looked. I went on a crash diet and lost 130 pounds in 8 months. I worked out every day and cut my calorie intake way down while excluding carbs, bread and any fatty foods. After all the negative comments about how I was too small, I started to reintroduce foods that I had not eaten in 8 months. Over the next 9 years I looked up again and noticed that I had regained 90 pounds and I was not happy. My stomach was bigger than ever!
This time around I am exercising 5-6 days a week and cutting back on my calorie intake, however I have learned to still eat some carbs and bread in moderation. I have also learned to eat not only fewer calories but to include lots of fruits and vegetables. Sweets and sodas have never been an issue for me and I don’t tend to need to snack. I drink at least a half gallon of water daily. Once I get to my goal weight I will still exercise weekly and continue to eat healthy. This time I’m doing this for me and keeping it off no matter what anybody has to say about it!
What made you decide to lose weight?
When I did not want to go out because I didn’t want to hear people say “Wow, you have gained all that weight back!”
What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Working out daily and cutting back on my calorie intake.
What was most challenging about losing weight?
Finding the time to workout after a 9-10 hour work day and still having to go home and cook dinner for my husband and daughter.
How long did it take you to start to see results?
How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
Almost 4 months.
How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I still have 25 pounds to lose and then I will maintain by exercising 3-4 days a week.
What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I want to be able to keep up with my husband when we take our bike rides.
How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel so much better since losing the weight. I have more energy and I’m happier!
Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Take it day by day and be consistent. Exercise is the key.
