weight loss success stories When did you become unhappy with your weight?

I've always been a bigger girl since I was a kid but I became more aware of my weight in high school. So I began to workout and I was healthy and felt good. But after my 1st child in 2001, I became unhappy with my body since I had gained 47 pounds with that pregnancy. Then, I had 2 more pregnancies that left me with even more weight. I was up to 287 pounds in 2006. However, that was just a stepping stone because in 2010 I went to the doctor and I weighed in at 322 pounds and I was shocked at that weight. I thought I looked fine since I was a tall girl and thought I had curves. But reality smacked me in the face since I had a possible blood clot in my leg due to my weight. That's when I decided that enough was enough!

weight loss success stories What made you decide to lose weight?

On September 24, 2010 I was told I may have a possible blood clot. That day I decided things had to change. I was 31 years old with 3 beautiful children and an awesome husband who loves me at any size. I knew that I had to be there for them.

weight loss success stories What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?

I began to portion control my food. I ate the same things, just cut back on the overall sizes. Cutting out soda was the hardest for me because I was addicted and it took me 2 months to finally quit. I began to walk and the first time I could hardly make it down the block without pain. But every week I went further and further until I was walking 3 miles a day.

weight loss success stories What was most challenging about losing weight?

The most challenging for me was just to start. But once I started and made the choice to commit to myself, everything fell into place.

It took me about 3 months to notice results but people began noticing as I got closer to 6 months.

1 year.

weight loss success stories How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?

I had got down to 219 pounds in September of 2011 but had a loss in the family and had emergency surgery that through me for a loop. I have gained about 11 pounds since then, but I am committed to losing this weight. My goal is to continue to lose even more weight.

weight loss success stories How has your life changed now that you've lost weight?

I can shop in any store and I can fit in any chair. I can ride the rides at amusement parks and not worry if they are going to say I'm too large. My life is awesome and I can't wait to continue my journey!
