Cindy’s Weight Loss Interview!

How much did you lose (pounds, inches, dress/pants size)?
I lost 40 pounds and went from a size 12 down to a size 4!

When did you become unhappy with your weight (were you overweight as a child or did you gain weight as an adult)?
I gained weight after having my kids. I was eating unhealthy, not exercising and I smoked.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I had a friend die of cancer and I knew I had to make some serious changes in my life.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
I quit smoking cold turkey. I started walking, joined a gym and ate healthier.

What was the most challenging thing you had to deal with during your weight loss journey?
At first, my stamina was terrible, even just to go walking. I never had energy and I was so out of shape that I could hardly walk a mile. As time went on it got a lot easier. Now I walk 3 miles a day and I’ve also run a 5k with my husband!

How long did it take you to start to see results?
It took about 6 months before I really got into a good routine and I noticed the weight coming off.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
It took about a year to reach my current weight.

Did you have any issues with loose skin after losing the weight? If so, how did you deal with it (surgery, etc)?
Yes. I had lost a lot of weight in my breasts and I wanted to feel better about myself so I did get a breast lift done.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and what are the most important factors for keeping it off?
I’ve maintained my weight now for about 6 months. I exercise about 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week and I eat smaller portions and healthier options.

What keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss success?
I love how I look and feel now! I have a lot of energy and I’m no longer depressed to get dressed every day.

How has your life changed now that you have lost weight?
I’m so much happier now and I have a lot more confidence in myself.

Do you have any advice for others who are trying to lose weight?
Just keep moving! Try to take at least 30 minutes each day and get active somehow, even if it’s just walking.

Cindy’s Weight Loss Tips!

Weight Loss Tip #1:
Try to choose smaller and healthier options when you’re eating. I don’t count calories and I will splurge every now and then on ice cream, but I just try to make better choices.

Weight Loss Tip #2:
Keep moving! I try to do some sort of activity for at least 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Sometimes I walk, go to the gym or run.

Weight Loss Tip #3:
Don’t get frustrated because it will take time. If you keep exercising and making better meal choices, eventually it will be your way of life and the weight will come off.

Weight Loss Tip #4:
Once I started seeing results and my clothes were fitting better, it got a lot easier for me to get out there and exercise every day.

Weight Loss Tip #5:
If you do splurge and have a cheat meal, like a dessert or some French fries, remember that it’s not the end of world. Just wake up the next day and start fresh and try to eat better and get out and move!
