Shane
Spencer is a true testament to the word persistence. After spending
8 years in the minor leagues with the New York Yankees, the burly
righty (5' 11", 225 lbs.) finally got his shot in 1998 and
he made the most of it. Shane exploded on to the big-league scene
with a display of raw power, slamming a major league record 11 home
runs in 81 at bats in September and October of 1998. Probably the
most significant fact about Shane's baseball career is that he was
a member of 8 championship teams- all while with the Yankee organization-
5 in the minor leagues and 3 World Series titles with New York.
Shane enjoyed 7 years in the Major Leagues and is currently signed
for the 2006 season with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan for his second
season there.
