Weight Loss Questions - How Do I Lose
That Last Layer of Fat?
Weight Loss Question: I have been consuming approximately 2000 calories
per day and exercising aerobically for 4 sessions per week for between 45-60 minutes
per session and 1 session of weight training for 60 minutes. I can't seem to lose
last layer of fat on thighs, butt and stomach (about 1 inch) - what do I need
to do?
Weight Loss Answer: I recommend dropping your overall calories by 250
calories and burn an extra 250 calories through cardio training. This way you
will create a 500 calorie deficit per day which equates to a weekly deficit of
3,500 calories. This means you will lose 1 pound of body fat, since there are
3,500 calories in a pound.
One of the best ways to drop your calories by
250, is by replacing a regular meal with a protein shake. I recommend Optimum
Nutrition whey protein, since its very high quality and is rather inexpensive.
Shoot for 2 scoops of protein for your shake which will consist of about 40-45
grams of protein. This protein shake should be fewer calories than a regular meal,
especially if you mix it in water instead of milk. Adding the protein with provide
a twofold effect. It will easily create the 250 calorie deficit and also provide
increased protein which will assist your muscles in recovering after a workout.
