Workout Questions - Dizziness and Nausea During Workouts

workout questions Workout Question:
Whenever I workout, whether it be running, or lifting, or even calisthenics, I find myself dizzy and mildly nauseous afterwards. I experienced this in the Marines after a long run (5 miles or more), but now I notice it after or during any workout routine. Anticipation of that feeling is what makes me hesitant to work out before each session. Any thoughts on what might be causing that?

workout questions Workout Answer:
First off, I highly recommend contacting a local physician and have a complete physical taken to make sure you don't have any underlying medical issues which are causing the dizziness and nausea. After getting cleared by your physician, then follow any advice provided below.

My personal thoughts on the cause of these issues (setting aside any medical problems), is your carbohydrate intake. Try consuming more starchy carbs before your workout and see if this helps out. Starchy carbs like a cup of oatmeal will provide the glucose for your brain and the energy needed to get you through a tough workout.
