When it comes to weight loss, 99% of us have goals we want to achieve. Maybe it has been the same goal we have had for years, but it has managed to elude us this far. Or, maybe we hit our goal and we have made a new one we want to reach. Goal setting is not just paramount in being successful with weight loss, but in any area of our lives. You set a goal to lose weight and you did it! You watched what you ate. You exercised. You did what it took to look your fat straight in the eye and say, “No more!” Congratulations to you! Yay! But now you notice that your clothes are getting a little tighter. Surely, they must have shrunk? In an effort to prove it, you step on the scale. Uh oh! The number staring back at you is telling you that the weight is starting to come back. Like a scene from a horror flick, you begin to hear the music of…
Our environment can either help make or break our success when it comes to weight loss. When I do this, I picture a bright, well-lit kitchen full of healthy foods that are easy to grab. I see easily accessible utensils that help weigh, measure and portion. Let us celebrate with a nice big, thick, creamy piece of chocolate cake. Yes, food is the end all and be all for any emotion you want to throw my way. Why is that? Why do I, and a million other people,…
Although the first 15 years of my career were spent in law enforcement, I’ve always been interested in health and fitness. That’s why, in 2001, I obtained my certification in fitness and nutrition through Harcourt Direct. Then, in 2003, I became certified as a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I chose these certifications specifically, not only because I wanted to be knowledgeable about health and fitness for myself, but I also wanted to learn how to best motivate and inspire others to reach their goals as well. Essentially, I still wanted to serve people, just in…
