Protein powders can help you supplement your diet and act as a healthy snack to help you achieve your weight loss goals. There are many protein powders available online, in local health food shops or grocery stores. However, it’s important to pick one that is low in calories, high in nutrients and contains high quality protein.

Muscle Milk Light by CytoSport. Muscle Milk is one the best-selling protein powders because of its quality and taste. However, Muscle Milk can be high calories. Those looking to lose weight can turn to Muscle Milk Light. This version of Muscle Milk has less sugar, fat and fewer overall calories. Two scoops of Muscle Milk Light protein powder contains 195 calories and 25 grams of protein with 2 grams of sugar. Muscle Milk Light is offered in a wide variety of flavors including chocolate mint, banana creme, peanut butter chocolate and vanilla. 1.5 pounds of Muscle Milk Light retails for $25 and 3.3 pounds costs $45 making it the most expensive low-calorie protein on the market. Also, Muscle Milk Light is sold in RTD, Ready-To-Drink, shakes that average $35 for 12 bottles.

MyoFusion by Gaspari Nutrition. MyoFusion is another great protein powder that is offered online and local sports supplement stores. One scoop of MyoFusion protein powder contains 158 calories and 25 grams of protein with 2 grams of sugar. MyoFusion flavors include chocolate, vanilla, banana creme and strawberries n’ creme. The 2 pound tub of Gaspari Nutrition’s MyoFusion protein powder retails for $20 and the 5 pound tub retails for $40.

Jillian Michaels Natural Whey Protein. The Jillian Michaels Natural Whey Protein is a low-calorie choice for those looking to lose weight. Each serving contains 3 grams of sugar and 15 grams of protein. Also, this product is affordable as it retails for $10 and contains 14 servings. This product can be easily found online or at local Wal-Mart stores.

Optimum 100% Casein Protein. Casein protein is a slow release protein that will supply your body with a steady amount of protein over time. This type of protein is ideal to consume before you sleep to fuel your muscles with protein during the night. Optimum 100% Casein Protein will provide 24 grams of protein and 110 calories in one scoop of either chocolate or vanilla flavored protein. This brand of casein protein retails for $25 for the 2 pound tub and $45 for the 4 pound tub.

BSN Syntha-6. The BSN Syntha-6 protein powder is higher in calories than previous protein powders and has 200 calories per serving but still has high protein content with 23 grams of protein. Also, this protein powder is low in sugar (2 grams) but contains 190 mg of sodium as opposed to most protein powders that don’t contain sodium. The 3 pound tub of BSN Syntha-6 retails for $25 and the 5 pound tub costs $42. Also, Syntha-6 is offered in a wide array of flavors including caramel latte, cookies and cream, strawberry milkshake and vanilla ice cream.
