Re: Is strength training important for a 5K
Anything beyond 800 meters utilizes the aerobic systems alot more than the anaerobic systems, any strength work will improve your anaerobic capacity which isn't useful until the last 50 or so meters in a distance event when you go all out. Additionally, strength training will improve your force prod...

Re: Back injury rehab
Believe it or not I found walking to be a tremendous help for rehabbing a lower back. I discovered this by accidently about 10 years ago when I develped a herniated disc and a God awful case of sciatica. For me, going to the weight room was out of the question....the only thing I could manage to do ...

Re: When is best to exercise?
It's an individual thing go when you can get the best workout.......
however you are depriving yourself of a very important tool in bb and that is sleep! so if your not getting it IMO I would give the AM a try,
I workout in the morning and it's a great way to start the day and does have benefits.

Re: Regarding chest fat
I'm not to the point of worrying about it myself, but chest fat is starting to feel a lot more squishy and has an elastic feel. I'm hoping to hit chest hardcore and bring in some muscle. I have a feeling chest will be the most difficult part to lose. Cheers goes out to some major work in the gym and...

Re: Weight training program after a long break
If it was me and I was just starting out I focus on nothing but cardio. 50 min each day. Do that until you get that unwanted weight off. then start up the weights.

Re: A Good Protein Powder?
I drink a protein shake after I do resistance training. I have read it is best to drink one within 60 minutes of your workout. I find it fills me up for awhile.

Re: pre-workout snacks?
The snack that works best for me prior to lifting is some cottage cheese with fruit. It's a nice light snack. The fruit I use depends on mood or the season, but it's usually blueberries, pineapple, or strawberries. I've tried all manner of pre-workout snacks but that seems to be the one that works b...

I don't want to accept this as prime.
I don't want anything in life, as it currently is, to be the pinnacle of what it will be.

Re: Recovering from a hamstring injury
I've had hamstring issues twice, though never went to a doctor or PT. The two times were slightly different. The first time I came back pretty quickly, the 2nd time I think it was about 2-3 weeks of no running at all. So there's really no way to tell, and no way that I've found to shorten the recove...
