At the risk of being nitpicky (sorry)... what you mean to say is "essential amino acids". Proteins are made from 20 different amino acids. Not all proteins have all 20 kinds though. Animal protein (meat) usually does, vegetable protein usually doesn't. Human bodies can made some fraction o...

Re: Stay Motivated

I cannot rely on workout partners, they always seem to fail me in one way or another. Hey Mandy, I agree. You need to rely on yourself for your fitness goals. I don't know what your long-term goals are, but appears me your short-term plan is unrealistic. That is, if you are giving up on your eating...

Re: Making sense of the senseless

I am overweight by around 80 pounds and up until 1 week ago, was eating whatever I felt like, obviously. Hey Nicole, I'll leave the diet questions to those around here who are more knowledgeable than myself. But I just wanted to say congrats on your newfound motivation! OK, forget first sentence, I...

Re: Preparing food for the week/day?

Question is, should I prepare every morning OR is it ok to prepare on sundays and just have everything ready for the week (or is that just gross)? Or the night before? Gross? I know some people who won't eat leftovers, but then again, there are people in the world who would love to simply have enou...

not that i know what potassium is in but what if they were eating high protein/high potassium foods? maybe the protein was doing the job and not the potassium... If the authors of the original study got that published without ruling out protein, they ought to be banned from practicing science, and ...

Re: Vegetarian diet to build muscle? High protein, low cal?

Any suggestions? And are there any veg foods out there that are high in protein and calories? How about nuts? Walnuts are good for vegetarians (of which I am one also) because they have Omega-3's, which are hard to work into the diet for vegetarians. Your question seems a little strange, because if...

which parts of body fat will get trimmed? Just to reiterate (perhaps more strongly) what swanso said, it is a myth that working a particular muscle will result in reduced body fat specifically in the vicinity of that muscle. For example, doing crunches or situps doesn't specifically reduce body fat...

While it is true that I do listen to classical music 98% of the time when working out, I do think that song is killer. IIRC, its title is just "Bodies". The band is Drowning Pool.

Insoluble fiber isn't even digested, so the amount of calories in it is irrelevant.
